If knock sensor is bad enough to whopping retard the timing then the engine will run rich with no timing in it and then flood out to not restart...........why have a computer that tells you what is wrong if you don't fix the things it shows you?

a faulty knock sensor will not prevent a vehicle from starting, even a missing knock sensor will not prevent a vehicle from starting.

could possibly be a dirty or faulty mafs (mass air flow sensor).

The no start comes from the retarded timing continuing longer term to load the plugs up, NOT the knock sensor in and of itself. Two absolutely different things. The knock sensor does not input at cold start as the engine is not in closed loop at that time. That does not stop it later from mistuning the engine enough to not start correctly later.

Fuel pump changed and wrong part likely, the fuel pump can only lower fuel amount not increase it, the regulator is the part to change there if getting richer. Car starting easy cold but runs like crap later when hot and won't restart hollers too rich. Could be MAF too.

Pull the plugs when it won't start and they may be wet or black or dark, the indicator there.

All temperature sensors are suspects. Is this an OBDII vehicle, or the old style blink LED kind? Is it throwing any codes either way?
