stalls when a/c is turned on

i have a 95 nissan 200sx 2dr stick,everytime i turn the a/c on ,the motor wants to stall out,it doesnt matter if the engine is hot or cold,,could it be a faulty sensor????? thanxs for any help..

try this to determine if its an idle prob or an a/c prob. disconnect the electrical connector on the a/c compressor. then go turn the a/c on as you normally would. the idle should jump up slightly to compensate for the added load. if it does you may have an over charged a/c system. if the idle does not jump you may have an idle air compensating valve problem. usually the check engine light would come on if the valve was failing. I have seen a few go bad on the sentra/200 model. the repair that was done was to replace the valve and place a subharness wiht a diode in the car under the dash right below the glove box and behind the center console. try the check above first though to make sure which problem you have
