Took my wife's 2004 g35x out for a spin in pouring rain. Hit a few big puddles on right side. When I got back in car it kept stalling but finally got going like nothing happened. Brought to mind that every time iI use car wash the guy has to restart car at end of carw ash to bring it out for hand drying. Any ideas???

Car has 52k and it is serviced by former Infiniti service mgr so I save lots of$$$$. He also does my 01 QX4 which has 80k. Only problem he is 40 min drive each way so I wanted to see if there was anything I could look for myself. I am handy but no mechanic. No codes and I have reader.

Did you ever inspect underneath the car to be sure the fiberboard shroud is in place?

Shroud is in place. Since it is dry today car ran perfectly for my wife who ran errands all day. Guess I will make trip to friend/mechanic. He is great troubleshooter, unless somebody thinks of something else for me to try. He thinks crank sensors or coil packs might be close enough to get wet. We will see will report back.

I had a 58 Ford that would not start in rainy weather. Two Ford dealers were unable to fix it. I got rid of it and that was my first and last Ford.

Was your vehicle purchased new?

Was it ever involved in a flood?

purchased off lease from dealer. did all the research with the vin # and have been very happy except for driver seat crapping out at 50k and offf warranty at that time. Very cold today with wind chill in teens and ran perfect today, maybe bad gas last fill up?

I don't think gas is your problem?

I believe your problem is electrically related.

Three items are necessary for an internal combustion engine to run.

1-Spark

2- Air

3 Gasoline

I believe your problem is #1 since the problem only occurs in wet weather

Poor or corroded ground, poor electrical contact somewhere.

Examine every electrical and ground connector providing spark to your engine for corrosion?

Did you, the dealer or previous owner ever wash the engine?

Never washed, it bought from dealer as is, no conditioning. Didn't want to wait. Will take to my guy tomorrow and let him check all as you suggest. Thanks very much.
