This goes along the lines of a thread that Eric posted.

The exact same thing is happening to mine.Come off the highway going about 60mph then coming to a stop with the clutch down, the rpms dip down to either stutter or stall. Not all the time, may ten times a week.

I have a '93.

I also have a weird scenario where the number 4 spark plug cap/wire won't stay down unless I tie it. I just had the plugs and wires changed.Could this be compression related even though the car runs fairly smooth at idle - 700rpm - it doesn't seem to really miss either when riding but how could the wire being getting pushed back up. It's on as tight as the other ones. Could it be air blowing it back up?Give me a shout if you can.

if the clip on the connector to the spark plug is fine, then it could be pressure building up. the only way pressure is getting in there is if the spark plug isnt installed properly or it is faulty and pressure from the combustion chamber is seeping in there. get a ratchet and the proper socket to fit on the spark plug and see if you can tighten it down alittle more. dont go crazy with it though, its not ment to be torqued down hard like other bolts.

for the stuttering/stalling, check the AIV removal/cleaning sticky, and check the idle control valve (alittle hard to get to). those are your two most likely culprits

try a different Air Flow Meter. My 91 SE-R is doing the same thing. I changed the AFM n it did the trick. Good Luck

I had the same problem when I first got my car. A new fuel filter and some carb cleaner in the throttle body fixed it for me.
