It's that time again... time for another idle/stalling thread.
This time it's a bit diffrent. Today I started my car after driving it for about 5 minutes to the bank. It idled a little bit lower than normal. I let off the clutch, hit the gas, and it stalled. I started it again in neutrel, tapped the gas a little, and it started to stall. This time the idle was normal. Then I turned it off, waited like 1 minute, and it started up and ran fine. Drove home with no problems. The other day something simular happened. I was getting on the freeway, and under acceleration the engine lost power and stalled. Started it up again and it ran fine.
I know it's not something chaotic, probably like a vacuum leak or sensor (I'm thinking the coolant temp. sensor may be the issue), but has anyone had this happen or have any suggestions? I might try bleeding the cooling system since I had a leaky radiator hose at one point. That was fixed as soon as it started leaking and it nevr overheated; it may have let air in the system though.
Also, when the car is cold the idle seems to fluxuate a lot. It idles smoothly, just the idle speed goes up and down. I've searched, and searched, and searched some more and most of the other stalling problems seem different than mine. Car is a 1991 240sx with an SR20DET swap. It's only done this twice, and I've driven several hundred miles since the first time this happened with no problems. It's not holding me back now, but I want this taken care of before something serious happens!
