I have an 01 altima, at idle the car wants to stall. I have a cold air intake, headers, and an exhaust on my car right now. When installing the header there was no bung for my second o2 sensor. Could this cause this problem?

no the second o2 does not effect fuel control it is used for monitering purposes. you may have a sucked in intake manifold to head gasket. try shooting some carb or brake clean near the underside of the #4 intake runner and see if you idle jumps up.

I sprayed brake clean in several spots on and around my intake manifold including by the #4 intake. the idle never jumped up . do you have any other suggestions that I can try.

between runner 1 and 2 if you look down in there you should see an odd looking screw try adjusting that out a turn or 2. see if that smooths it out. If it does you may need a good induction cleaning.

also make sure you cold air intake from the air flow meter to the intake is fully sealed. if any air is able to be sucked in between those 2 points it will cause a low idle or stall. Air entering at that point is not measured by the airflow meter so the ecm does not know to add the appropriate amount of fuel for the air the engine is getting so it can keep it running right.

Also my temp gauge moves up and down about 1/4 inch. it doesn't matter if I'm moving or at idle. the temp stays about the middle of the gauge, usually just below but bounces. could this be part of my problem? How would you recomend cleaning my induction system?

go to a shop that has the equipment to do it properly, I know propably not what you wanted hear but it is the only thourough way to do it. As for your temp gauge; If its bouncing rapidly check the single wire sensor near the front of your intake manifold. The lug on it might be loose, if it is just replace the sensor.

Do you know which is the signal wire in the wiring harness to hook up an air / fuel gauge so I can see how my car is running?

I am not familier with the AFCII wiring schematics, so I cant tell you what they are hooking into. I would assume it might be the o2 sensor and the maf meter but thats just a guess.

I do have an AFC II that I have not installed yet but what I want to do first is just the air/fuel mixture gauge that I have. I hooked it up to an engine ground, the power and hooked up the lighting for it, but I need to fugure out which is the signal wire from the stock wiring harness to finish the installation.

what does the gauge instructions tell you to hook it up to?which sensor?

It says to hook it up to the signal wire from the o2 but says not to hook it up directly to the o2 sensor it says to hook it into the main wiring harness.

yea usually near the ECM in the car. I will try to locate a wiring diag tomorrow but in the mean time revrend D I think has a service manual for altimas, hit him up in altima tech section see if he replys. Not sure if he has the L30 manual though but its worth a shot.

I am just checking to see if you have had a chance to find which wire the air / fuel gauge gets hooked into.

ok got the wiring diagram for it. You need to get to the ecm once you do use the diagram I post to find the white wire in pin 46 of the ecm'connector. you will be looking at this connector from the harness side(H.S.)
