Hi guys. I have a 1991 240sx LE (DOHC) and my problem is the following:
My car always needed to be started twice to stay on. First try, it stalls out. 2nd it gets low then gets up to normal idle speed. Yesterday, I had to do this 4-5 times to stay on. I thought nothing of it but when I started coming back from a 9 mile errand, the car stalled when I pressed the clutch in while driving. I could get home by keeping the car revved up above 1.5k, but when I let go, it gave out. At one point it wouldn't start even when I tried 10 times, I had to hold the gas down. All this time during the drive, it didn't happen every time.. The idle was either fluctuating, normal, or stalled. When I came from a stop while it was idling (not revving up to 1.5k), it acted like I had the clutch released too far while giving it little gas (but if it was idling fine, it wouldn't do it.)
I went to the store earlier today and the idle was fluctuating a bit but not too bad. The drive was fine. It seems like something is loose, corroded, bad wire or something else. Any direction to where I should start?
Thanks.
