I could be sitting at a light, driving uphill, downhill, above 2500 rpm, below 2500 rpm, during load or coasting, it doesnt matter, the car's fuel shuts off and the motor shuts off. The condition is quite random, sometimes taking a trip without incident, other times happening several times during a trip. Still have power, no battery or alternator issues as both are new and whenever it shuts off it starts right up with no idle issues. Installed a new Bosch fuel pump and fuel pump relay in an attempt to correct the condition with no change. Measured the MAF according to the manual and its within spec. Any ideas?

my inclination is to hook up a voltmeter to the fuel pump relay to see if Im losing power there so I can better narrow it down...

i would also check your ground connections. a bad ground can cause some very strange things to happen and usually they aren't consistent.

I know you checked the MAF and it's within specs...but did you clean the MAF?
I had the same issue once....ended up being bad gas from an independent gas station....

I did clean the maf, connector and plug. Also pulled the TPS plug and cleaned the ends. No change in the condition. I'll be going through the grounds next, thanks for the replies.

found the problem. Started troubleshooting as per the manual and although I had cleaned the connector I didnt really look at each of the four clips inside. While checking for continuity I realized they were covered with some green patina corrosion you see on battery terminals so I broke out my dremmel with a very thin bit and gently cleaned them up inside. added a bit of bulb grease to the pins and reconnected. Havent had any symptoms of stalling for a week now so no need to buy a MAF.

I agree the MAF is a pain, but it does take care of 90% of troubleshooting. it was the first thing i checked anytime my wife J had problems.
