'89 240sx with S13 black top with E5 ecu.

had the car since '06, did everything myself the same year. probably put 100k since the swap.

the problem I'm having is at first i had an extended crank, but car ran fine. no issue with starting or driving the whole day. the next day is was it was driving fine then it started stalling out when i slow down every time, but its fine at WOT or accelerating. now the next day car wont idle at all, extended crank when only throttle is open. runs fine for 5 sec at first start then it starts misfiring then shut off. i can keep it running if i feather the throttle pedal at idle. wideband reads 16.0 afr all the time and once i let go the engine starts to studder and shuts off. fuel pumps have 12volts going to it while priming and when i can get it running. fuel pressure is good at 36 psi when it primes and when it does runs. when i disconnect the maf sensor, i feather the throttle to keep it running, then after 10 secs it would idle fine but afr flatcuate from 10.0-16.0. i replace the maf with another working s13 sr maf and redo the whole wire harness to clean it up. still the same issue. ground is good, has 12 volt in power wire and the signal wire have 0.5 volt when connector is plug in when key on engine off and 12 volt when its disconnected. tps tested good, all injectors are working with a noid tester, replace spark plugs. im thinking the ecu is bad. what do you guys think?

You could have a serious post-maf leak... If you have a post-maf leak, the car is going to run rich, once your ecu realizes you're running stupid rich, it'll reduce fuel to try and compensate, which would cause your lean condition of 16.0 AFR.

thank you. i had a tiny stress crack on the factory catch can. i just temporary cap off the intake side for now.
quick question, do you think a rubber hose would be able to withstand the heat if i delete the catch can and just run a straight hose to the "t"? im using stock manifold with no heat shield.

check your connector from the power transistor (ignitor) to the subharness to the coilpacks. Make sure its not being pulled to tight by the bracket bolted to the back of the head. I had the same issue and it was the connection was being pulled and intermittently breaking contact.
