Hello to all,

My daughter has a 95 Maxima and said it has been stalling. I drove it all day today and it ran great. I let it sit for about 1.5 hours and went to drive it again and as soon as I put it into gear it jerked a few times and died. I put it in neutral and it restarted but would die as soon as I put it into drive again. Sometimes it would let me start driving if I gave it a little extra gas but would die within a few seconds, while coasting I put it in neutral to restart, and as soon as I put it in gear again it would die. While sitting in neutral at an idle it sometimes jerks real hard and the RPM's lower but it recovers... No codes. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This problem sounds MAF sensor related. Unplug the harness going into your MAF sensor, which is the sensor located directly left of the air intake box lid. If you unplug it and the problem changes, then it is your culprit.

The problem is not constant, it comes and goes. When it comes it's harsh. I cleaned the MAF sensor tonight, so I will see if the problem returns. If it does I will unplug the sensor, thank you.

Well I cleaned the MAS sensor last night and today the car ran great, that is until tonite. It began jerking and died. It would start, but would only rev to 2500 RPM's and then die. Sounds like the classic symptoms on the sensor. I am going to replace it in the morning unless someone on here changes my mind.

Did you fix your problem? Where did you get your MAF?

I had stalling problems myself which turned out to be the MAF. I posted about this. I went the long route in troubleshooting my problem. Cleaned IACV, EGR tube.

Yes, I did fix the problem by replacing the MAF sensor. It has run just fine for two days now, I hope it continues. I bought the sensor from Checker Auto Parts for $209.00 with one year replacement.
