I got a 92 vert. with the DE block and when i start it up, it'll run for a few moments, but maybe about a minute or two into driving it'll start leaning out, or choking out, and it'll stutter and die. usually, if I wait about ten or twenty minutes, i can start it up and make it another quarter mile down the road. once i start driving, it seems like when i push the accelerator past maybe a quarter inch, it starts choking out my engine. if i keep an extremely light foot on the gas, i can maybe make it a mile down the road, flipping into neutral and braking with my left foot while keeping my right on the gas. this only works for so long though. i have a feeling it's the ECU, as it's been more humid than usual around my south san diego neighborhood. I don't have too great of an idea of what i'm talking about though, I'm no mechanic. any ideas gentlemen? all possibilities would be appreciated and explored.

(i've seen a similar problem on a 97 ford ranger when the MAF wasn't connected properly.)

If it isn't a MAF problem, I guarantee you it is a fuel system problem. Change your filters first, and then the pump/strainer if that doesn't work. I had the same problem in my car and a friend's car. You either have a clogged fuel filter (on the passenger side shock tower near the intake manifold) or the pump is dying. I promise you that'll fix it.

well i swapped the underhood fuel filter when i got the car, and i have been having fuel system issues.. blew out a few injectors and whatnot, so i guess the only thing left to do is try the fuel pump.. haha lucky the tanks in an easy to work on spot. thanks guys, sorry for the late reply to this but i've been real busy, i'll let ya know how this works out in the couple weeks, just a little strapped for cash. thanks for your input, much appreciated.
