My 98 pathfinder recently developed the problem of stalling out for a about 10 seconds after being started cold and driven for a short time. This does not happen every day but when it does, it seems to happen the same distance from my house, I notice that I am restarting on the same block of my neighbor hood ( about 1/2 mile). AFter it stalls out, it runs fine for the rest of the day???

I had auto zone scan it and found 3 errors p0325( knock sensor), p0335 (crank positioni sensor A) and p1444 ( purger volume....). From what I have read it seems that it could be a faulty crankshaft position senor but I am wondering if anyone has some insights into to this problem and or had does this repair before? I would like to be more certain that could be the problem before going forward.

Thanks,

Chris

Welcome to NICO.

P0325 is a side effect of the P0335 code, you can safely ignore it for now.

For P0335, inspect the crankshaft position sensor following the instructions on page EC-268 of the factory service manual. The sensor's location is illustrated on page EC-14.

As for P1444, ensure the hoses connected to the EVAP canister are not clogged with carbon.

I put in a new crank position sensor and it did not seems to solve the problem. I am still getting random stalls and hard starts. The same type of problem is going on, it cranks but does not start for about 10-15 then runs like nothing is wrong. This is really frustrating to say the least.

The check engine light is still on for the p1444 error. Anyone know if this error could be related to my problem? Or anyone with similar issues?

The P1444 valve would not cause such issues.

Remove the distributor cap and use compressed air to blow out any dust and dirt.
