anyone go from reverse to drive too quickly and stall out their a/c? i guess its good that the car shuts off instead of dropping the transmission on the street, but i thought the whole rev match thing would compensate. it was a question i had when i bought my car, the dealer didnt know, now i do lol.

That happened to me once. What I usually do is reverse and then throw it in neutral for a second and then pop into drive. I'm usually going slow enough to where being in neutral for a second puts the car at almost a complete stop and then is safe to go into drive.

However that one time I didn't realize I was on a hill and going into neutral did nothing but keep my car at a roll. It shut off the car and I was scared for a few seconds on what I did wrong. I was being kicked out of this park (it was after hours) and I wasn't very nice to this ranger on other occasions so I thought when my car turned off he thought I was just being a jerk and not leaving hahaha.

So you're neutral dropping the car? Being 'impatient' and risking your trans

One of the benefits of having the MT, right? Worst we can do is burn the clutch out a bit faster. Well, unless you go out of your way to engage the clutch as quickly as possible, but it's not normal (for me at least) to take my foot off the pedal that fast...

Let us know when you drop your transmission on the street

Careful doing that man, could lead to long term issues. Manual trans FTW

yeahhhhh... i wasn't doing netural drops. im glad you came by to comment though, its nice to know we are still friends i thought i came to a stop, but it turns out that i didn't. pretty much the same thing rob said he did, minus the whole park ranger thing haha. its kinda like when you are at a stop, you look at the car next to you, think it is moving, but in actuality it is your vehicle that is moving... before you ask waht kind of drugs im on when i see this, there is a scientific name for it. i cant recall the correct term right now and im sick today so i just dont have the energy to look it up, but i do know nasa has a chamber that they train astronauts in before they go to space so they can become used to that effect. i guess it is really common in space. sorry for the bill nye rant. but anyways, it was a total accident, when i did it. just wanted to see if anyone else had experienced it.

What is the point of having tint on your car that is so dark that you keep. Getting tickets for it?

I tinted the windows because I like the look, and for temperature control and leather longevity. Unfortunately, in Illinois at the time, front window tints were completely illegal. I was getting smacked with petty $25 fines, so I didn't much care. Figure'd I'd pay one every couple of months and carry on. I then learned that I could get nailed with a Class C misdemeanor for the tints so I took the front windows off. If not for that, I would've continued to break what I considered a BS law.

Now, I'm living in Indiana where the cops don't seem to care as much. So, the front window tints are back on - and the car is actually illegal once again. For the record, the car is 5% rear and 20% up front - there are people on these boards with darker...

it's alright, with 110 degree weather days out here in cali, black leather interior and the massive asphalt parking lot at my work, i think blacking out the windows is a justified move. i already know from experience with my bmw that black leather seats + no tint + summer time = huge a** burn on my lower back and legs.

you will never get pulled over for tints. you get tint tickets added on when you get pulled over for driving like an idiot.

around where i live, cops pull you over for dark tint due to the high gang population. they assume everyone who has blacked out windows has a 12 gauge on their lap or something. it kinda sucks, but you just get a fix it ticket here. they tell you to peel your tint off and have it signed off by a city official, but half the time you walk in the office and they dont come out to check your car...and on top of that, i dont think that the middle aged woman that has to sign off on the ticket knows exactly what legal tint is, so if you have a silver tongue and you're not a degenerate, you have a pretty good chance of getting it to slide...if you dont mind doing all the leg work and brown nosing haha

my comment was directed towards blkmomba. im not sure how CA is, but where we live ive never been pulled over for tints. The one exception was I was leaving a bar and he pulled me over just as an excuse to give me a soberity test, which i passed since i wasnt drinking.
