Hi guys,

I'll just jump right into it. I have a 95 SE auto. I bought it on the cheap (get what you pay for, i know lol) a few months ago as a daily and have been driving it without issue. But a few days ago it just started stalling out on me the second the trans was put in Drive. Park/Neutral it idles fine, Reverse works just as it should. However, the second it is put in drive and given even the slightest bit of a pedal it chokes and eventually stalls out. If I slip it in drive and just let it idle while holding the brakes it bounces between 500-700 rpms before it stalls if left to idle for more than a minute or so seconds. This is at operating temp or from a cold start.

I've read a lot of threads with similar issues, but none have described my particular probelm. I just wanted to post to get some of your opinions on the problem or problems before I dive into taking things apart and/or replacing things. Any ideas?

I haven't done any mods to the car, but the previous owner did a full exhaust and intake - look to be roughly done though... so who knows.

It could be the IACV. Did you try reading the 240sx.org Technical articles?

Thanks for the reply Silvia. I went through this weekend and tried troubleshooting from the FSM and my Chilton's manual.

New Dis Cap and rotor
New Plugs and Wires
New Fuel Filter
Replaced all Vacuum lines - found a big hole in one of the old hoses on the way to the egr, didn't help the problem
Checked the Fuel pump and fuel pressure, checked out

That leaves IACV (haven't checked and cleaned this yet because I'm finding it hard to get to lol), TPS and possibly finding another MAF to plug in just to see. I tried unplugging it and what not, didn't change anything really. I have a S13 maf I could try
I'm no Nissan Tech, just learning as I go for the most part

Since it's auto, I've had a few people suggest the torque converter might be locking up - maybe? who knows, lol.

Well, here I am again. I got the IACV off this weekend, thoroughly cleaned and back in place. That did solve the stalling in drive issue. Cranked up fine, went in Drive fine, accelerated and changed gears. Obviously it wasn't the Torque Converter. I drove it up and down the street a few times, all seemed better than it did before after all the other stuff I changed in the process.

Decided I needed to get some gas in it today and drove about a mile and a half to the gas station. When I went to make the right hand turn into the lot the steering got really hard as if the power steering pump went out and the brakes were very stiff. Then a loud buzzing started coming from the passenger side of the dash. Guess the ECU gave out on me? Turn the key to the On position and it buzzes really loud. The car will try to turn over but won't fire.

You guys have any thoughts? lol

Got out there and tinkered some more after reading a few articles. Disconnected the battery for a few minutes to reset the ecu. That cleared the buzzing in the dash, car still wouldn't turn over so I went to the fuse box. Blown EGI fuse, new one in and it fired right up. Now, I'm not sure what caused it to blow and I haven't taken it out on a drive after these fixes, so I'll have to update if the fuse keeps blowing and then track down that weasel.

Hopefully this thread is useful for someone else down the road.
