Stainless vs. aluminum

My intercooler arrived today and i need custum piping done for my sr. Is there really any big differences between stainless steel and aluminum? Big difference in cooling?

Don't use stainless steel for intercooler piping. That is over kill. Use aluminum. It is lighter. You can consider mild steel. That is what I ended up using, but not stainless.

Aluminum has better cooling abilities as well.

Also more difficult and expensive to weld than steel :)

It's cheaper than stainless, I believe..

But it's a ***** to weld. Since you're going with custom piping, you may want to consider steel over aluminum, just because you can weld it... but aluminum doesn't hold as much heat as steel, which is a plus for intercooler piping...

brazing rods and a torch. thats the easiest way to join aluminum.

in order to weld aluminum, you need a tig unit that can output AC.
