I've decided to upgrade to a complete set of stainless steel brake lines and want to know which are the best (performance, durability, feel, etc) out of all the available kits. Links would be very helpful.

I hear goodridge a lot--are they sort of the standard for s/s brake lines?

PDM-Racing sells Russel s/s brake lines, and PDM only sells top-quality parts. http://www.pdm-racing.com/prod....html

BTW, this is an early model S14 zenki w/ABS that already has KVR cadmium plated rotors on all four wheels w/KVR carbon-kevlar pads.

Also, what's the recommended nissan brake fluid? I don't want to switch to synthetic fluid in something as important as brakes, as I've heard horror stories from switching to a fluid that's not the recommended OEM stuff (the brakes on my dad's car failed him when he switched to synthetic fluid...luckily the thing only weighs 1500 pounds and slows down by just letting off the gas...)

So basically, what's the best complete set of s/s brake lines out there, and where's the cheapest to find them?

Thanks!

SPL lines look pretty good (i don't have them, a review from someone that does would help). they have a sheath to protect them from dirt and stuff and they are pretty cheap. if i were to do it over again, i would get them.

as for the fluid... assuming you race the car, which you better, with all that **** on there, anything DOT 5.1 would be good (not DOT 5, that might have been your dad's problem). ATE super blue is pretty popular but a little expensive if you ask me. if you don't really care that much, anything DOT 4 would be enough.

ATE superblue is just about the best fluid out there, and it's hardly expensive.

$9/liter? That's damn cheap. It's brake fluid...I'd say it's pretty damn important and well worth the $$.

i thought it was like $15 a liter. the stuff i use is $5 a liter and is avaliable everywhere. either one will work, as long as the boiling point is high enough it's fine.

ATE superblue or Motul 5.1 works well, SPL sells both the STE fluid and their stainless lines.

save yourself some money and take your stock lines off and take them to a tube and rubber shop- they should be able to replicate them in stainless for around $50-60 or less. fyi

if any have a coating on the OUTSIDE of the stainless braid, i would pick them due to ppl having problems with dirt getting under the braid and undetectably destroying the teflon line. Otherwise i'd pick the cheapest (probly SPL)

I purchased the Magnum Teflon Stainless Steel Braided brake lines on ebay $68. Not sure how they rate compared to other brands but it does fit nicely

to quote

"This set of lines is fully covered with PVC thus give it extra protection, no other brand on the market give you this extra protection. "
