Does anyone know where to get stainless/Nitride valves for my SOCH. Also who all makes the solid lifter conversion, any aftermarket companies ?

The only aftermarket valve setups ive seen used with sohc is a ferrea/manley combo. The manley exhaust valves are custom fitted, but the ferreas? Could possibly be 2 of the ka24de valves, Ill compare some e and de valves tomorrow and find out if this is possible..

solid lifter conversions are available from realnissan.com, tulsaturbo.com, and a few other places. I sell a custom solid conversion as well, that is slightly different from the realnissan/tulsa turbo parts. My conversion uses hardened parts, and is much lower profile so the valve cover does not need to be modified. This conversion will be listed on my website along with other parts, but i will take small orders now.

$200 for conversion

edit: you might want to look into a dual row timing chain setup if your going really stiff springs on an e, or at least run the 06E chain instead of the 06B common replacement.

Devious, just to let you know, and i found this with the fwd valve cover, but i did not like the clearance between the rocker and the cover at 2 points on the intake side, so i have cut it out and made a 1.0mm thick aluminium patch that will be epoxied in place to provide adequate clearance. Will post pics soon.

I have not yet been able to compare the ka24de/ka24e valves LT_Z. I will post up as soon as i do. Yeah, solid lifter conversion, works very very well. It does give more noise, but i found performance benefit from this alone (pdm c.404 cam hydraulic vs. solid). Many cam regrinders can work with your cam, if they have to create a custom profile it can be expensive, but if they can find a grind they have done before that will work it is very cheap. You will want to have your rocker arm ratio (1.422), valve train type, stock cam specs (as well as what reground profile you would like) to tell the grinder first time you talk to them.

There are quite a few more things you can do with the valve train. Mostly custom stuff but if your interested, i know a few tricks.

SSS, How long overall did your adjusters end up? if i recall correctly, mine are about .715". They are shorter, and have more clearance in all directions than the stockers. If you having a clearance problem with the large lock down nut, you can buy ones that use a head smaller than 5/8" and grind the height down. I use the hardened larger lockdown nuts, and have checked clearance on truck and 240 valve covers witht the same results. I have just about everything else for a stanza but the valve cover, haha.

Post those pics when you get them.

It doesn't look too bad from this angle, but i didn't not like the clearance one bit. Plus i increased the verical height of the cutout from 35 to 40mm. The patch that will go on the outside will give me the extra 1.5mm or so of clearance i desire. It was just too close for comfort IMO.

Adjuster total length is approx 30mm. At correct lash i still want the locknut to have full engagement in the thread.

is that a hole cut in your actual valve cover? and you say your welding a patch over? I did not have nearly the clearance problems (my set was checked multiple times with clay, rotating cam, and no valve cover gasket). That measurement i gave before was incorrect, that the an approx height of the ground down lifter body, with adjuster removed. I am using the same lock down nuts as yours, and at proper lash i have approx. .040" of threads left above nut.

Is your valve cover same as the US stanza ka24e model?

I assume the cover is the same....Yes that is a hole in the cover, i handformed the aluminium patch which will be epoxied to the cover (good ol JB weld :D ); it's on the intake side so in my car it won't be seen; plus it's getting painted black so it shouldn't look like anything out of the ordinary.I was concerned with blowing holes in the cover if it couldn't be welded properly, plus the way i'm doing it is easier and much much cheaper. It is only for 2 of the intake rockers that i have this problem, the rest have sufficient clearance (>1mm), where i cut the cover the clearance was less than 0.5mm which worried me.
