Just looking for opinions on running a stagered setup, like 17x8 and 17x9...it seems most all sports cars come with wider rear wheels from the factory and this is usually taken that one step further in the aftermarket scene...i know it looks cool to have a bigger wheel out back but what are the disadvantages of this? My guess would be increased understeer, but couldn't that be fixed with a good rear sway bar? On the other hand though, pretty much every jgtc car runs the same size all around...just looking for some further insite...

The most simple explanation is, same size allows you to rotate your tires front to rear, which in turn allows twice the tire life as opposed to a set you couldn't rotate.

There is also no benefit to widers rears that couldn't be matched/exceeded by a stickier tire of the same size for front and rear.

You should see the look on the faces of people (mindless customers) when a tire shop explains that the tread on their fronts is worn after only a few thousand miles.
