The problem is somewhat like Toxik said; it sees no benefits so that basically correlates to a drop. When you add wider tires you are getting more grip and traction, so, you would be BEST to put the wider tires in the front for acceleration traction. However, wider in the front is bad for wear and tear when turning...so it is a Win/Lose...whichever you want more of...
Also, wider is not always better if you are a commuter. Granted, it looks AWESOME when you are stuck in traffic...but on the days when you get to really get up and go...you are putting more rubber to the road and in turn need more gas to keep those wheels going in a circle. Again, Win/Lose...your call...it would be 1 MPG give or take...throw an intake on your car and you are right where you started!
