I give it the 1st cool down after a hard driveWulfgang wrote:I'll give it 1 month if you put thermal wrap on it. Hot steel is much weaker than cold steel, especially if those welds are crappy.
But $160 is really, really cheap. If this is a stainless header, then $160 barely covers the parts. I would suggest cutting out ALL of the welds and re-welding the whole thing, because you will still be getting a good deal.
Perhaps SSautochromes are just pieces of **** ?foCk wrote:I bought another one thinking the one I had was a defect and after pulling the old one off, this one still doesnt fit ! perhaps my exhaust studs are bent or something...?
Actually the welds aren't necessarily the weakest point. I have seen many of these manifolds crack at the runners. Basically the quality of steel in taiwan is not as good as the quality of steel we have here in the u.s.Wulfgang wrote:I'll give it 1 month if you put thermal wrap on it. Mine went on with no need for modification and shows no sign of cracking or stress. My car spools much quicker now (about 500 rpm sooner), so I would say it was worth it. The welds on mine looked pretty good actually. I know there's arguments on both sides, but I would say it's a pretty good manifold.
