Well my manifold i ordered, came in, like 160 shipped. I am gunna definately support the downpipe, maybe even add more bracing to manifolld it seld, only thing i dont like are where the runners meet (collector) the internal welds look like mudbutt, (very rough). Im gunna chop off itty bitty t3 flange and weld in a t4 flange for my 62-1. Manifold is topmount btw, so i will ned to place flange backa bit to clear the valve cover. If it works, it will be awesome. Anyone think using thermal wrap will help the runners out in life ? ohh well, my stock turbo is blown so it will be good ot have a decent turbo on, i got some 550 rx7 injectors, i just need a top feed rail, and a power fc controlling all my issues... well ne comments or suggestions are welcome...

sounds good. i too am tempted, but im just not sure. even thought about taking it to a pro welder to re-inforce it.

not to sure on the thermal wrap. iirc it would cause the manifold to bake and become weak. but not sure on that topic.

post some pics too!

I had to drill out the holes on the flange where it bolts up to the head... and it still leaks

I give it 6 months even with all the extra bracing.

I'll give it 1 month if you put thermal wrap on it. Hot steel is much weaker than cold steel, especially if those welds are crappy.

But $160 is really, really cheap. If this is a stainless header, then $160 barely covers the parts. I would suggest cutting out ALL of the welds and re-welding the whole thing, because you will still be getting a good deal.

I've had my SS Autochrome manifold on for over 2 months now with no problems. I'm in the process of welding in a flex pipe to ease the stress on it, but haven't knocked that out yet. Mine went on with no need for modification and shows no sign of cracking or stress. My car spools much quicker now (about 500 rpm sooner), so I would say it was worth it. The welds on mine looked pretty good actually. I know there's arguments on both sides, but I would say it's a pretty good manifold.

I bought another one thinking the one I had was a defect and after pulling the old one off, this one still doesnt fit ! perhaps my exhaust studs are bent or something...?

Actually the welds aren't necessarily the weakest point. I have seen many of these manifolds crack at the runners. Basically the quality of steel in taiwan is not as good as the quality of steel we have here in the u.s.

Also if i'm not mistaken, the manifold are welded twice. The second time to make all the welds look pretty

If the unwelded steel is cracking, then I guess there's nothing to be done. Maybe $160 is not a good price for just the materials after all. What gauge is the tubing?

The reason things don't line up is that whoever designed the flange/manifold thought that the ports were all symmetrically spaced. However, they're not. I found this out with my copper gaskets when I made them and that is why mine fit and the SS mani's don't.

Hey do you have the side mount stock replacement? What turbo do you have?I just bought this manifold but the Stock replacement (side mount) and all i really wanted was the Divorced Turbo outlet, and for $100 more i figured that if it cracks withing a couple months then I got my use outta itIt is a crappy manifold but you get what you pay for!!!!!So if you bought it remember how much you paid for it.
