ok, i broke down and bought the CA SSAC FMIC kit (putting the APEXi fmic on the backburner until the engine is broken in at least)

im probably missing something, anyone who has it, did it come with all the necessary hardware to mount the IC? mine came with one small L bracket and a bolt spacer

to mount the way it looks like it wants to go on, id have to cut frame rail.

anyone have up close pics of one installed? (just the IC, not the pipes)

That's it. Say goodbye to your crash-bar. Mine is sitting on my porch.

yeah, i took mine off and am cutting the bumper(chuki) to see the entire IC. I have the MR large FMIC, and it is the same IC as the XSPOWER, i put them ontop of one another and they were exactly the same.

you don't need to completely cut your front intrusion bar. I ever so slightly cut mine, but it looks like a factory cut.

silvia bumper supports are a bit different than popup style front ones (?)

but, more to the point, with the SSAC FMIC, anyone have pics of it actually mounted on the bottom?

did you use those angled tabs? i already cut a bunch off of my frame rails, to use those tabs, it looks like i would have to cut alot more, and then it would be mounted at almost 45 deg forward slanting up and forward ..... i cant see how that would be good for airflow.... or even fit behind a bumper

so, anyone have pics of teh bottom mounted? looks like im going to have to make brackets, but i want to see how other did it first

I haven't cut my front bumper support yet to fit it over my intercooler but here are some quick pictures of what I did when I mounted my SSAC intercooler up. The "hardware" that SSAC gives you is a little crappy IMHO. I just spent roughly $10 at Home Depot for some shelf mounting brackets and then trimmed my headlight mount brackets a bit and bam it fit right in. Hope this helps.

^Top bracket

^Bottom bracket

This thing was VERY sturdly and with a bit of trimming to the bumper it fit right over the intercooler. Now I just have to trim the support and fit that up.

thats great, but if by 'crappy' you mean 'non-existant' hardware, then yeah. although the couplers and clamps look decent

that looks nice and stable, did you bring the IC with you to find the thread? or did the bolts/stuff with the bracket kit just fit (or forcably rethreaded )

Ill take pictures of my set up as soon as I get it back, hopefully soon. Its been so long, ahem, 8 months since I started this project. I miss my car, I have over 10 grand in parts, and i havent seen the fruit of all my patience.

I used hardware from Home Depot also, took off my bumper support, and cut my front bumper to get more airflow to the IC.

will do, its about time i updated more pics on my cardomain site too (while im at it ill add the pics of my corolla on its site, no real progress on it at all because im focusing on just getting the s13 moving, then after break in and some quick upgrades, the focus moves to the ae86+nissan engine

its been since april 05 when i stripped the silvia for me (minus the little bit i drove the donor 240sx s13 - less than a month, just to get a feel for the coilovers before i started the whole drivetrain/body ordeal

bonus, within a year i am moving to a real house, where i will be living for awhile, and a real garage... and i can afford tools to do things like removing subframes and media blasting them..... the bushings on teh s13 at least should be fine until then (90k mile donor shell)

by real garage, i mean more than one bay, and a lift for my toys

just to let you guys know.. you dont really need to get rid of your crash bar.. my IC is sitting right behind it and it mounts perfectly. You need to remove/cut the brackets that your horns mount too but other than that it fits great
