Tried to swap my stock airbox with a CosmoRacing SRI. The polished Midpipe doesn't seem to have the right angle to fit inside my engine bay anywhere. It seems to want to go right where my battery is sitting. The intake consists of the Midpipe, MAF adapter, Stock MAF, and the air filter. I tried the Midpipe coming off of the throttle body, and also right before the air filter, and it doesn't want to fit anywhere.Has anyone had any problems installing these? If I don't get any responses by the time I get home tonight, I'll post some pics of the problem-install and hopefully that will get me some help. Also, there is a black rubber adapter stuck into the midpipe that doesn't seem to fit any breather hose, and I can't see any use for it from the dissassembly of my stock airbox. What is the use for this???

I don't have a camera here at work, but have a pic or 2 from the old gallery. The mid-pipe connects to the throttle body and then the MAF plate bolts to the MAF. all connected by the silicone hose.

Hope the pics help!

Ok here are some crappy cell phone pics I just took of my Cosmo SRI.

The kit comes with a long black rubber hose. Cut this in half and use it to replace both breather hoses. The breather hose coming from the manifold (front) is actually slightly larger diameter to that of the hose that Cosmo provides but you should have no difficulty in stretching the black hose around both outlets and using the clamps that came with your car to tighten the ends of the hoses. You can either reuse the small black hose(rear) or replace it with Cosmo's ( I kept the original ). Finally, connect the maf adapter plate and the filter and your done (sort of). Make sure to connect the supplied support or else the filter will slip and will start resting on the car. What I did was drill a small hole in the end of the bracket (the part that is pre-bent) to fit one of the stock screws that held down the original air box. Then I attached the upper end of the support bracket to the lower left nut and screw (you can see it in picture one a little) then I screwed both pieces together with the supplied nut and screw and finally attached the lower end of the bracket (that I drilled the hole in) to the car body using the pre-existing hole that Infiniti/Nissan so graciously provided.

Alright, I got enough time to take some crappy cell phone pics myself.

As you can see here (With the filter just laid in there), the polished pipe seems not to make the correct angle in order to connect to the MAF.

Also, here is the mid-pipe alone. You can kind of see the black breather hose that they supplied in the background (Doesn't come close to fitting). The pipe has that black connector that doesn't seem to fit anything? What is this for?

I know that I should take the black bracket out from the stock airbox, but I left it there as all of the wiring is currently connected to it, and if I have to go back to the stock airbox for a while before I get this figured out, it was easier to leave it in there. Also, I have a carbon-fiber-looking strut bar coming to match some of the other carbon-fiber NISMO dress-up that I ordered. Should make the engine bay look a little sporty-er.

Ok...i do believe you have the mid pipe on incorrectly...try turning it around and attaching the other end to the throttle body. Then the little black grommet is for the air temp sensor that should be located on the old intake piping...mine was on the scoop piping coming into the air box. Look for it and then just push it in.

Alright, so I went out & turned the mid-pipe around, and I have the same problem. I tried this last night with no results as well. If I turn it so that the "bend" faces the other way, the pipe just points into the strut tower.

Is the Air Temperature Sensor this grey connection that I have outlined here? If so, is there actually a sensor inside the intake scoop that I have circled below?

Yes that is the Intake Air Temp Sensor.

Turn the bend pipe back around the way you had it before. Try assembling everything but the coupler that goes on the throttle body, and "dry fit" it to the throttle body. It may be that the coupler is too wide, or you didn't have it pushed on far enough, or too far. If it still does not fit correctly, they probably sold you the incorrect intake.

Alright, so I rigged it in there somehow in the rain. Now all I need is to get some connectors to fit the supplied hoses to the stock hoses. Should I get a new air temperature sensor, or should I tear the stock sensor out of the intake scoop and stick it in there. I don't think that I'll be able to get the stock one out without breaking the plastic fitting though.....

I ziptied my intake temp sensor to the nearest secure place.

I would also upgrade the filter they sent you ASAP! I did not use that one. It seemed a little to see through for my liking.

The temperature sensor actually fit into the midpipe nicely (With some electrical tape). The intake feels pretty good.

So how would I go about fitting a new filter to their SRI? I am sure that they don't provide this type of info on their website

Also, what type of filter did you go with? Apexi would probably be the best to go with?

I sent CosmoRacing an e-mail about trying to find somewhere to mount a support for my SRI. The guy didn't really have an answer for me, but he posted the picture of my engine bay on their website without asking me. Kinda cool to have a picture of my first install on my first car on their website I guess...... The link is below, the pic looks pretty good for a cell phone pic.

Apexi is the best, but the filter alone costs more than your intake did.

AEM Dryflow is the next in line, and they run about $30-40. Get the one with a 3" opening/cone filter.
