I just notice a deep scratch mark yesterday on one of the door. Somebody must've hit it when opening their door. I tried filling it with touch up paint, but you can still tell it is there. What can I do myself? Thanks

Yah, I hate it when somebody scratches your vehicle. Inadvertant but careless is more likely. Get use to it, its reality in this world we live in. After the first scratch or dent in a parking lot it gets easier after that.

I don't know why touch up paint did not work, well it wont be perfect but it's covered.

Try not thinking about it. I know, hard at first. (ignoring it)

I am sure some scratch expert in here might help you, short of getting it repainted by the dealer.

Just last week somebody dented the HELL out of my mom's camry. Damage in 4 areas of the drivers door a nd a bit on the rear passenger door behind it. Big 12 inch long dent with accompanying deep scratch, A circular dent. Scratches on edge and on the rear passenger door. Life sucks but thats why we have insurance.

Make sure you park strategically, not next to a sh*t bucket. Maybe next to a luxery car if you can. Not in a small space.etc

I guess it is too deep. Seems like the touch up is darker though.

You didn't tell me you went cheap on the touch up. Get the real color. On ebay or the dealer. Exact color at least. Get correct color code and all. :poke:

It was from a dealership but bought it off the internet. Courtesy Parts. I got the .5 oz touch up paint bottle.

Was I supposed to keep the orange cap when you first open it?

The thing to remember is when using a touch-up pen, don't try to glob is into the scratch to fill it and cover it in one pass. It's better to build it up with a couple of touches. The best thing to do is build it up so that the touchup paint is actually higher than the original surface, then use a clay bar or some 4000 grit sanding paper to bring to down. Then use a polishing compound to buff out the scratches and follow that up some really good wax to finish it off. The more time you put into it, the less you'll see it once you're done.

I do it a couple times a year on stone chips and when you're done - it looks as good as new.
