SR20VE VVL or SR20DET?

A great resource for Nissan Sentra, Infiniti G20, 200sx, Pulsar, NX1600, NX2000, Tsuru, Primera and Sunny owners.

I've got a 95 G20T and i'm thinking about doing an engine swap and i'm torn between putting in a SR20VE vvl or a SR20DET. Any advice?

DET's are generally older and require more maintenance due to their age. VE's are hard to find.

Power-wise, you'll get more out of a DET for less money.

VE swaps are fairly rare, so the uniqueness value is higher.

VE's are hard to find? never knew that. Why not do both? Turbo the VE?

The ve engine is a pain when it comes to wiring and ecm due the vvl (basically vtec for nissans). But if you build it right it can rev to 9k+ and make power all the way. If you want quick cheap power get a det. They're not any harder to maintain than the ve, because both engines are old unless you get a sr20ve v20 or sr20vet but there extremely hard to find and very expensive.

When I did my VE swap I didn't rewire anything. I just made a few plugs longer and that was it. I wired up a greddy MSS to control the VVL and tuned my ECU for the injectors and MAF. Throw valve springs in and bigger cams if u want to rev to 9k.

A sr20ve is a direct swap on an sr20de motor. You can actually just get the head off a ve and swap it out without haveing to remove the engine.

I thought the g20Ts already had a sr20det in them? I could be wrong.

G20T=G20 Touring, not turbo. There has never been a USDM vehicle with an SR20DET.
