Doesn't the S15 SR20 have VTAKZ anyway?

It probably would, but what good is Variable cam timing if you don't have an ECU to control it? That'd probably pose the biggest problem. The VE has VVL which has variable timing on the intake and exhaust cams, the S15 SR only has the variable timing on the intake cam. Also I don't think the cams will work. The SR20VE is a FWD right? I don't think it has the dowel pins that a RWD needs. Speculation of course since I've never worked directly with the VE but yeah.

No, it does not bolt on. I think there may be one or two successful VE head-on-S-chassis-block in the world, but it's one of those things that if you have to ask, you'll never get it done.

check out http://www.sr20forum.com .. the have some good write ups on putting a sr20ve head on a de/det bottom end.... the problem with the rwd is the solenoids that activate the cams... they would hit the firewall.. you have to relocate them or box out the firewall.. but yea i have looked into this.. though all ve heads are like $1000... still a cool idea though

i am also very curious, one of my good friends works at a performance shop, and he is thinking about trying to experiment with this.He did mention something about having to use some type of block off plates in order to align the vvl head to rwd sr block.i think if this could successfully be done you would have a serious powerhouse.

just to give you guys an idea about what this does. I have greddy easycams and a gt2871r and make 100 whp more in the lower rpms up till the peak hit at 7200 where the peak is about the same as a comparable s13 sr with gt2871r. So yeah the vtc makes a difference....
