One mistake ..for the S15 you said the injectors were 444cc, they are actually 480cc.And on the first page..you spelled components wrong.

Your site looks good. Can i make a suggestion? Ok, Thanks.

On some pages you are using a red color for you font on a Grey background. Try and use a more nutral color (white, Black) or making the font bold or something so it is easier to read. My eyes started watering, lol. Good luck.

Thanks for the input everybody, I H8 I'm having alot of trouble findind pics of any of the later model ECUs, so if you have pics of any of those, that would help alot. Also if anyone has the before and after pics from there swaps, and it could be anything, i.e front end swap, engine swap, brake swap, and they'd like to mail them to me, please do, cause I'd kinda like to add a before and after page.

Silviagirl you have mail. Thanks again Chris

Well I can't e-mail you silviagirl, cause the e-mail is disabled, so hit me up on AIM when you have a chance. Also to anybody who has some sound clips, I'd love to get ahold of them, espicially short movies/and or sounds clips of exhuast sounds, BOV sounds etc. This would help cut down the questions about what exhuast sounds like what etc. Thanks in advance Chris

You can get sound clips from Zilvia.net. Might want to ask them before you post their sounds though.

Oh and mainly need a pic of an S14 SR20DET blacktop ECU, cause I havn't been able to find one, so anyone who has one I'd love to borrow it.Also an E5 or E6 ECU (1994-96 180SX) would be cool Thanks Chris

Oh yes and if anyone would like to send me pics of their ride with the mods they've got on it, and some good pics, I'll post em up so that before buying a certain body kit or FMIC they can see what it looks like on similer cars.

I belive in japan in 1994 they had the s14 already

also you have S13s as only being produced from 1989-1993(4) when they were acutally produced up into 1998 in japan as im sure you already know

Ill keep browsing and see if i can find anything else wrong ;)

Yeah for the years that I have listed I was meaning the US model years, however I'll add the congruent (can't believe I just used that) Japanese years.

Samabra,

I'm interested in knowing what caused the engine to blow. Do you have rocker arm stoppers on the motor? With the reworked computer, where's the rev-limiter at? How often are you within 1000 RPM of it? Have you pulled the head and figured out what caused the head gasket to blow? How much boost were you running? Do you have an incar A/F meter?

Sorry for the flurry of questions. It's just not often that these engines blow, you know? Well, except for the cars at that one shop in Garden Grove...

Well here's the deal, to awnser your questions one at a time1)I don't know wheather I have rocker arm stoppers or not, cause I'm not sure what they look like.2)The rev limiter should be at it's stock level, because the ECU was only modded for the Z32 MAF and the injectors, I don't think they messed with the limiter at all3)Pretty sure we were within 1000 RPM of it at least once, I downshifted at to high RPM during the test run and the RPMs went up pretty high, but we didn't bounce the rev-limiter4)Havn't pulled the head yet, still working on some other stuff, I'll put it up on the page as soon as I figure out what the deal is5)I don't think we blew the head gasket, because it's allready got an Apexi metal head gasket on there, which I didn't know, but do now. I don't think I could have blown that.6)We were running at whatever PSI the wastegate was venting at, not exactly sure, no boost gauge to tell, from what the BOV sounded like, I'd say between 12 an 16 PSI.7) No in car A/F meter, however I do know that at low RPMs we are running rich as hell, as you can see one of my very near future mods is an S-AFC. We should know what the deal is by next week. I'm hoping its nothing to serious, but we'll see. I'll post on the site, and here when I figure it out. Chris

Excellent, thanks. I subscribed to the thread. Good job with setting out on the long, and torturous journey toward being a webmaster. From a quick cursory glance, the content seems to be lacking indepth, technical details. It does a great job of addressing a lot of the common questions that come up on the message boards (where do I buy a clip, how much do they cost, etc, etc).

I'm getting into finding the more indepth stuff right now, I remember looking at a site that listed alot of the exact specifications of the engine, like what the block was made up of, bore X stroke etc. I know where to find some of the exact info, (i.e heavythrottle, and some other places) and I'll post that up soon. I also have a .pdf file that is the haynes manual on the S14 blacktop that I will be posting tonight Thanks all the help guys Chris

Well I hate to resurrect this thread but I thought you guys might be interested in the status of my engine. My engine = bad lower end. It's been in the shop for a few days, and when my friend finally got it to start, he said that you can hear the lower end pinging like no other. So here's my theory, I think that since the engine came from Japan with the turbo, manifold, injectors, head gasket, and cams, that maybe some dude thrashed the hell outta it, then sold to an unknowning guy here in the states, and then since the guy I bought it from only started it once, didn't know about it when he sold it to me. So basically here's what I'm going to do. I'm going to swap SR longblocks, pull the bad one out, and put a differant one it. I'm going to find out exactly what it took to get it started later today. the trim job around the back of the car is pretty nasty, either put a glow around the whole car or fix that up in photoshop

you should mention how the gtir heads are different, and the main and rod bearings from a gtir are an upgrade. mention the fact of a closed deck block, jwt says you can safely put 87mm pistons in the block without sleeves. so settle that for people that think 86.2 is the widest. the flywheel and clutch are different for the rwd then the fwd.....maybe a list of all shops that specialize in these motors....

why do you think the engine is blown? you said the mechanic hears lots of ping in the bottom? spun bearing? number 3 con rod bearing is what i see spun usually. too bad it usually takes the crank withit. you can blow the headgasket even if it is metal.

fwiw, if you bore the cyl, use a torque plate and have the transmission bolted to the block when you do it. this will prevent future headgasket seal problems. shaun
