lets just say i was gonna drop an SR into a Z...

are there any adapter plates needed to mate a Z32 5spd NA trans to an SR? does anybody use Z32 trannies in their 240 swaps?

I'm stupid when it comes to SR's, just so you all know

They used to sell them. Give them a call.

It's been done a lot, not sure if they use the NA transmission or the turbo transmission, or if there's even a difference though.

The flywheel and clutch are different between the n/a and the TT. I thought the TT manuel transmission was beefed up but it's probably the automatic.

thanks for the link

would it be better to go with the SR transmission or the VG? i know the VG transmission is super tough and could more than handle the power i would throw at it. but since the Z already has the VG transmission in it i was wondering if it would just be easier to try to mate the SR to that.

SR 5 speed transmission is lighter and will hold 400whp all day long! But you will need a coustom driveshaft. The VG transmission will hold almost anything you can throw at it and you might be able to use your same driveshaft. If I was going 450+whp and had the money I would use the VG transmission.

I read half the thread and jus tposted this =z33 transmission fits nicely unto an SR and its 6 speed

this is from a google search. Quote »

1 - I currently don't know what the Z33's gearbox is good for (torque) , but after opening it up and comparing it to the Z32's gearbox, it's not a huge difference. It's a significant upgrade from the SR gearbox, that's for sure.

2 - The 350Z, 05+ V6 Frontier, and the 05+ Nissan Xterra all use the FS6R31A manual transmission gearbox, and the gear widths are identical per the official Nissan FSMs.On a side note, it appears that the 05 Frontier 4-cyl equipped with the QR uses the FS5R30A 5-speed manual. For those that know, this is the same gearbox that's in the Z32 300ZX.

[/quote]there's an adapter plate somewhere out there, im trying to find it.

thanks for the info guys. i don't think i wanna try a 350Z transmission, but that would be interesting. i'd rather just use the z32 5spd. i guess what i'll do is once i get the engine, i'll see how well the z32 housing lines up with the SR and go from there. if it looks like i can make an adapter plate easily then i'll do that. if not, i'll just have a custom driveshaft made and use the SR trans.

by the way, i was looking to make somewhere around 300-350hp. can stock internals handle that? from what i've read they can. i was planning on going with a top mount mani, S15 turbo, i'll already have a z32 maf 550cc injectors, and maybe an upgraded ecu. is this possible? of course the intercooler and exhaust setup will have to be all custom.

stick with bottom mount manifold, unless you're getting a gt30.

if your shooting for 350ish you could also keep the sr transmission and get a custom drive shaft?

you could also do an rb26 or an ls1

but those are just a few Ideas, good luck

good news. i called mazworx and they have an adapter for the z32->SR. its made for the S chassis though so what i'll have to do is send in my bell housing and they will machine everything so it will fit correctly. $475 isn't too bad since i won't need to buy an SR trans.
