i know i know wrong section. but guys at sr20det section havent been responding.

wired up my friends 240 for an sr20det swap, fired up first time and idled perfect, but when I turned the key off, it wouldn't turn off. Had to pull alt fuse in order to do so.

Is there any common wire that is crossed or mixed up that provides power from switch to both fuel pump and ignition?

I'm thinking ignition switch may be faulty as the car ran fine before and the wiring harness out of another car ran great before as well.

If needed I can give you a list of all wires wired up and where to.

wiring is as follows:

Grey Plug

Blue/Green - Blue/GreenBlack/White - Black/WhiteRed - --------- - RedGreen/Yellow - Green/YellowBlack/Red -----Black/Red + Blue/Red

Brown PlugBlack/Pink ----Black/PinkGreen/Orange - Green/OrangeBlack/yellow ---Black/YellowRed/Black ----Red/BlackBrown------Brown

Dash plugOrange - OrangeBlack --- BlackBlue/Black - Blue/BlackYellow/Red - Yellow/RedYellow/Green - Yellow/GreenBlue/Green - Blue/Green

If you see anything wrong, please let me know thank you

Maybe we can get sx moneypit in on this but i am thinking its got to be your ignition switch. Nothing in your engine harness/ecu harness would mess with your power cut off. Check the FSM for the ignition circut. and start testing.

Hello, Im a friend of TLP's...

Tried another ignition switch, no fix.

I did however notice the dash lights went off when I threw it in reverse.. it only did it a few times.. can't get it to do it again.

Your ECCS relay could be stuck closed. It provides power to the fuel pump and the ECU.It is behind the right kick panel.

well now the engine is starting to misfire and cylinder #4 fuel injector is not working? could the ECCS relay cause that? it went from running smooth and not turning off right to not running smooth and still not turning off right.

The relay isn't going to cause your miss fire problem. Can you hear the injector clicking?

well spark plug in cylinder #4 wasnt even tight. tightened it, no difference. oh and was covered with gas. swap coils with cylinder #1, nothing. put a noid light on injector plug, signal. but misfiring does go away when u rev past 2k rpms. i dont think its ECCS relay.

Have you checked to see if you are getting spark?Does the miss actually go away when you rev the engine or does it just seem smoother?

just feels alot smoother, not sure if its still missing. well i switched coil packs so its obviously not the coil pack. the coil plug is functioning. the odd thing is, when we first fired it up the motor it ran great, idled great. and all of a sudden it decides to misfire? i was thinking worn fuel pump? but wouldnt explain the other 3 cylinders firing correctly. plus if i remember correctly, the rail feeds #4 injector fuel first correct?

I don't think it is a fuel supply problem. You did pull the spark plug to see if it was firing ,correct?

narrowed it down to ECU. friend of mine is a electrical guru. he also said harness was ghetto rigged so... there goes about 200 for ecu 300 for wiring

friend says that he saw another SR that had the same prob and ECU was the culprit. makes sense though. i trust him, he does wiring conversions and rom tunes and is damn good at anything electrical.

If any alternator fed circuit got crossed with any ign. circuit that could do it..

you manage to get that ecu ? did it fix you "turning off" problem? Mine now just started to do that this weekend. Bought a new ignition switch and still no luck with it. About to start checking ecu grounds or something, kinda stuck as to where to start now, pulling my eng fuse is getting pretty annoying. Car starts/runs perfectly fine, just wont shut off.

I have got to say that in my 33 years of being a professional auto technician i have never seen an ECU cause that problem(not shutting off).It just goes to show that in this business you learn something new every day!Glad to see you got in fixed!

where did you get your ecu from? i have the same prob, except my car has been running up to this past weekend is when it started the "wont shut off" problem. JUST today taking my car to get tuned, i filled up on gas, and my car wouldnt start. f***ing problem after problem. Finally get it started, head to walmart to see the wife at work and let her know where i was going. PLOW again s*** wouldnt start, so here i am stuck at walmart trying to get this thing started again. Finally get it after about an hour and just brought it straight home. im on the verge of suicide, been trying to figure something out since it all started this past weekend, searching my a** off, quite literally im about sitting on my weiner now. The wife is ticked off cause i get off work and hit the computer and try to find out what is going on till i go to bed. *SIGH* so if you guys have anything else to add please throw it in. Sorry to thread jack if i did, just started writing, after i read that you got yours fixed by the ecu.
