ok guys here's the story, i got a 91 240sx h/b with a 93 sr20det in it. the motor and setup is completely stock. i was driving my car a couple weeks ago, everything was working fine. i parked it at my buddy's house and then when i went to leave a couple hours later the car started up fine but none of the electronics in the car were working as well as all the lights. so i turned the car off, and we looked at the fuses, the fuel pump fuse was blown as well as the 75a fuse for the alt. i had a spare fuse for the fuel pump so i put that in and drove the car home with no lights. well as i drove down the street i also found out the car was running in limp mode as well. (won't rev past 2.5-3 k). well i now have time to fix the car so i have been tracing wires for bad connections and shorts. so far nothing but i know i have more to check.

but now the car will only start when i pull the fuel pump fuse and then shove it back in before it dies from having no fuel, once it is running and i put the fuel pump fuse in back in it will idle and rev up to 2.5-3k fine, but then limit cause it is in limp mode. what is wrong here why will it only fire without the fuel pump fuse in? is it getting to much fuel on start up? or is it something else?

Would not having the 75a fuse cause the car to go in limp mode or is it something else like a bad maf?

there is obviously some bad wiring in this car, i just bought it a month ago and it was runnig good when i bought it. Now the car is frustrating me to s***. I want it to run!!

sorry for the long a$$ post but there is alot going on here. thanks guys.

Wiring gremlins. Time to tear up your harness and see what wires are touching or other possibilities. Unless your good with a test light and stuff, you don't have to tear it up, and you can find it but I'm not good at electrical so I just remove the loom.

ya i am still in the process, my ecu looks like a rats nest in this car, wires everywhere, very amateur job on who ever did the wiring in my car. i was hoping that it would be wires under the hood, like the maf, or the cam sensor, but they all look fine, so now its on the tackle the ecu wires. I hate electrical s***!! i would rather tear apart an engine then have to trace and repair wires.... although my wallet prefers bad wiring over a bad engine.

well i found the culprit wire, the insulation around one of the wires attched to the ecu had been cut and the exposed part was shorting out on a metal bracket under the dash, sure enough wrapped some electrical tape around it and bought a new 75a fuse popped it in, and the car started and ran perfect! I am so happy now that she is finally running perfect now!
