sr20det with ka24de alternator

i bought a ka24de alt from a junkyard had it tested before i put it on it worked fine but now the car only runs for about a minute then the batteries drained. battery is brand new so i know i got a problem somewhere. I was wondering if the eletric fans might be sucking to much juice. my freind wired the car up and was thinking possibly he ****ed up on that end but any help would much appreciated.
