Car is a 1989 240sx with a redtop SR20DET swap done man years ago. Probably 40,000 kms on the swap. It's always run really strong. It still has the stock sidemount and the only real mods are a MINE's ECU and a boost controller. The car hasn't been driven much the past 2-3 years. When I parked it before winter there was only probably 1/4 to 1/2 a tank in it and I forgot to fill it up before I stored it.

I pulled the tarp off this week and tried to start it up and it was very hard to start. It's never been hard to start before. Eventually it would catch and run rough for a while. If I even touched the gas, it would instantly die. But once it ran for a little bit it warmed up enough that I could rev it freely and it would run fine. But when it was cold, it was always hard to start and would always die out when I touched the gas, until it warmed up.

I decided to put some fresh gas in it, and now it won't start at all. I put 20 litters (5 gallons) in and I didn't drain the old fuel. It turns over and every now and then sounds like it wants to start, but never fully does. I've replaced the fuel filter and it made no difference.

I checked the coils, and they have spark. There was a lot of pressure in the fuel line just before the fuel rail, so I am assuming there is fuel as well. Looked at all the wiring and vacuum lines and I can't see anything out of place or broken.

Any ideas?

you need to drain you gas tank and fill it with fresh gas. then remove the filter and let the pump run about a gallon or so out into a bucket. change the fuel filter and hope your injectors havent gotten gummed up. if they did soaking them in fresh fuel should sort them out.

Does it have an evap Purge solenoid? If that's stuck open the fumes from the tank will get pushed up the line into the intake and cause a rich condition fouling out the spark plugs. Could be a stuck open fuel injector. By your explanation it seems to be running/starting rich. Applying the accelerator pedal just floods it out. I would simply pull the oil dipstick and smell the motor oil for a gas smell... You could also pull a spark plug and smell for gas.
