I was wondering if anyone can tell me the difference between the SR20DET and SR20DE throttle body? The reason I ask is because I'm trying to refab my cruise control, and I can get ahold of a SR20DE throttle body that has the 2 cable linkage. Any help would be great. Thanks.

10mm cant be much of a gain unless u're pushing lots of air from a big turbo

The only SR with a larger throttle body than the S13 SR20DET is the SR16VE N1.

if you want a drop in replacement with the same bore, get a KA24DE throttle body. The only thing that needs to be done to it is to swivel the coolant inlets to line up with the hoses.

i have the throttle body from an s13 sr20de and the throttle plate is 10mm larger than my s14 sr20det

however, the throttle housings are the same size.

sr20de:plate = 60mmbody = 70mm

sr20det:plate = 50mmbody = 70mm

to retain cruise control, i swapped my ka24de throttle body onto my SR. i then jumped the speed signal from the ecu harness to my cruise control module that is mounted conveniently behind the ecu

Yes, that is why I said S13 SR20DET, I have no idea what you have.

It is a decent upgrade on the S14 engines, it is worthless on a S13 engine.

So are you all saying that I can use the SR20DE TB if I want? Or if I wanted to I could use a KA throttle body, just have to change the coolant inlet?

elvis240sx - Can you please email me at [email protected] so you can help me with my cruise control swap? I would appreciate it, thanks.

yes. the coolant inlet is a pressed in fitting, but if you get a foot long pipe and stick over it you can rotate it around the way that you need it.

and if you dont feel like rotating the pipe and hooking up your coolant just so it can heat up your intake charge air...then bypass it completely. where it should go through the throttle body just stick a peice of pipe in its place. viola

So I would be fine to run a KA throttle body on my SR and just cap the coolant inlet?

the coolant runs through the TB for cold weather to keep the throttle plate from icing over. i actually daily drove my SR last winter with the coolant bypassed and did not notice any ill effects. you dont really need to cap the coolant inlet and outlet on the tb since it doesnt actually run into the air, it just runs under the throttle place to warm it. but, you must make sure you connect the two lines together somehow so it still flows to all of the other places that it needs to go to. i think i used a peice pipe i had lying around and now it just kind of sits right below the throttle body.

i don't know about the ka24de from the s13, but i looked at my old ka24de s14 and the TPS is not mechanically compatable with any sr20. electrically, the plugs are different as well, but that does not mean that they don't put out the same signal, then again they may not. So it may be possible to hardwire it. I would *think* that they would read the same, but thats just a guess with 0 research.

how did you do it elvis240sx?

S14 and S15 sr20det TB is 50mm plate and 70mm body.RWD/FWD S13/B13 SR20det and S13/B13 sr20de TB are 60mm and 70mm body. (not an upgrade at all)
