Yes. Well. Here we go. I've been thinking and looking and dreaming of an RB25 for a little while now, after considering how unlikely I would be satisfied with only 4 cylenders...but there seems to be a few problems.

The RB seems to be quiet a bit more (I am talking front clips only here) than the SR, about 2k more depending where you go. It also takes a lot more work to get in there and mount and wire I also gather (prolly 500+ extra), AND it's all for an extra 500cc of displacement. Wouldn't this extra 2000-2500 be more easily put to use upgrading the turbo system and building the lower end of a SR? This is just how I am seeing it, and after watching that dyno vid from secret service, I am seeing how a much a SR can really put out, assuming the video was real and all. I know a swap doesn't come cheap, I'm not looking for a cheap way out, it just looks to me as if spending the same money on a SR and building it to 350+ and swapping a RB that takes more time and it at about 270 at the crank if i remember? If any of you who actually run 300-400+ at the wheels could tell me about which engine you chose, why, whether or not you regret it and all, I would really appreciate it. I know this is kind of like the common HOW MUCH DOES AND SR MAKE FOR 5K?!!? type question but I just don't want to go make a big mistake.

some SRs will make 205 crank hp for 5K, some will make 260. It all depends what mods you do.

RBs are sexy but the SR is easier to get parts for with out paying and assload of money.

sr.....more potential....

rb25......cant boost it above stock or it will cause damage.......

I have read it here and there that they are good motors until you start getting crazy with them.

It was in ZOOM magazine....an Ausie japanese performance mag...It has higher compression than other motors.......not good when you try and boost it higher....And the factory computer is limiting.....

Just what Ive read.....

SR.

Proven...and any problem you run into w/ the swap has likely already been solved, adding ease to the issue.

Show me a place to buy forged internals for a KA so that I can run 21psi as a daily driver?

P.S. 25psi is where it gets hairy for daily driving? I was planning on 18-22psi.

P.P.S what are you 2 running? hm? before you 2 posted and got off topic I was just getting the ansers I want. If either of you isn't running an atleast 250rwhp turbo KA setup, you are fagtards for talking right now.

I'm going KA...lol...I think it has the most power potential, besides, I just did a complete rebuild to my engine...it'll probably go 20,000 miles at the most before I rip it back open to drop in some forged piston rods in...all this in preperation of one day having a t3/t4 turbo under the hood...

while were at this lets compare all 6 engines. the ca18det, the sr20det, the ka24, the rb20, the rb25, and rb26. sr20s are more popular among tuners but ive heard that ca18s havemore potential. is this true? rb20s arent very popular cuz the displacement and number of cylinders doesnt let it get too much torque out of the car. also it doesnt have a lot of options for tuning or potential. the rb25 is my dream but someone in this thread said that the car cant be boosted higher although more people want the rb25 so my question is if it cant be boostd higher then it cant have more potential which means the quickest ill prbably ever run with an rb25 is approximately 11 second quarter mile if fully tuned out. and well i could run with an sr20 but nobody on this forum has an 11 second sr20 powered 240sx.rb26 would be perfect in any case but it is expensive and rare and not to mention the swap etc would be a pain in the azz. now the ka24. whats the fastest ka24 powered 240sx? ive heard 14.6 seconds but thats about it and well turboing the ka is doable but also a new thing. what does everyone recommend as he best swap period? ca18 and sr 20 popular and cheap but lo displacement and 4 cylinder. rb 20 just not wrth it. rb25 and 26 perfect except rb25 cant be boosted and rb26 is just as hard as buying a skyline. any feedback?

whoa...you asked for an opinion, don't bash me for giving you my opinion...i'm not running a turbo setup, I'm almost stock except my recent bore and my Venom High Flow Injectors, but I know what I've read and heard about the potential of a KA, check out both of the KA forums, especially the KA-T forums, those guys will tell you what you need to know about the setup...

Once again, no need to call people names if they offer you an opinion...I could easily strike back by calling you some dombass name, but I'm not going to stoop to your level

"If any of you who actually run 300-400+ at the wheels could tell me about which engine you chose, why, whether or not you regret it and all, I would really appreciate it."

You're right, I did ask for opinions, but only from people who are qualified to answer. In this case, peope who have actually done a swap or are producing the numbers I said qualify. You do not fall under this catagory. I am not trying to be mean, but learn when to speak.

K1LLA916K... ok. The turbo designation are basically relative to the flow and size of the turbo. There are basically 2 parts to the turbo, the part that takes air in the part that spits it out.T25 = 2.5 T3 = 3.0 T88 = 8.8for sizing, you see how the numbers work kinda? A T25 is very small and on a KA would restric the exhaust flow out. Same with a T28 on a KA. On the flip side a T88 would take forever to spool on a KA, seeing as they are for V8s or much higher displacement engines. The turbo is spooled by passing exhaust gas, and the exhaust made by a 2.4L engine isn't enough. Aries is working a T88 because he is running a V8. A hybrid turbo such a T3/T4 uses the T3 intake portion and T4 output portion, so that the turbo will get more exhaust in, to spool the turbo, but then be able to put out more exhaust, so that you can spool quiker than with just a straight T4 turbo, while you can have the spool time of a T3 and the exhaust flow of a T4, you see? Most of the time you see people running either T3/T04B or T3/T04E turbos when using hybrids, the T04E is good for maybe 25 more HP in the end. You do need to read up on some turbo FAQ stuff though, I did just say the Input and Output portions instead of the compressor or turbine housing on the turbo and all that, I just gave you a basic breakdown, go read some FAQs, it will help you alot.

And to answer your question, either a T3 or T3/T04x, the specific turbo will come from what you want specifically and all that.

Wait, so a smaller, cheaper-made, aluminum block engine has more potential than the RB since when? Even completely stock, the RB series has ridiculous power handling capabilities, plus the advantage of 2 more cylinders.

Man, where's WDRacing when ya need him?

Toki if u wanna be an a$$ to people who posted on your post why dont you shut up and do a little search cuz from what I remember there were whole lotta threads about these engines and what they were capable of.

Again...Kaioshin, why are you speaking? I am being an *** because people can't follow some basic directions, such as, lets talk about the RB25 VS the SR20, specifically people who know what they are talking about. But I basically got my answer from 4 or 5 people who I trust. So this thread is about done now.

So the RB can't be boosted above stock without "damage"?

Wow.. news to me.

I've seen 4 cylinder engines boost more than 10 psi on 9:1 compression (with great engine management).. now tell me why it can't be done..

This thread is "fagtard"ed.
