this is kinda funny but I live in Japan right now. Just got stationed here for 3 yrs. I picked up a completely stock 180SX has SR20DET 5 speed trans. The only thing done is the cusco strut bar and it has a aftermarket muffler. What should I do first as far as upgrades? What name brands do you recomend(since I am fortunate enough to have access to it all! LOL) Thanks for the help. Dont feel that I have an advantge cause I live here spark plugs are $20 a piece, Brake pads cost $140 for the OEM ones. Later Jason

depends what your goinh for? do you want it to be fast 1/4 mile, are you going for a drifter.Id say start with a full exhaust, get rid of muffler. Get intake, downpipe, bov, boost controller, turbo timer, front mountAfter that you can do turbo upgrades and fuel system upgrades. Dont forget about suspension. get some tein coilovers, or somethingAs far as brand names depends exactly what you want to buy. Decide what you want to spend, i can kinda tell you whats good, and how much it would cost in the states, but i dont know alot about products avaiable in japan, or price diff.

Well I love drifting. But I payed to much for this car to go smashing it up so I would only be doing quarter mile type stuff. It will really be my daily driver but I want a bad A$$ daily driver. Remember I have to compete against Skylines and stuff here! Later jason

I dont really like skylines. EVERYONE has them! To me its like mustangs. I love them but since everyone has them it makes me not want it. Also, If you have a skyline your expected to win. If you see a skyline up against a silvia or 180 you tell your self, That skyline is going to kick that guys A$$! BUT, when that 180 whips it on and beats the skyline everyone is like DAMN that is a bad A$$ 180! later jason

still need more info on what type of parts your looking for i gave you a couple types of ideas. Biggest improvement will be a boost controller. Get a intake, downpipe, and Full exhaust. Turbo timer. look around make sure exhaust is 3 inch piping, make sure downpipe is 3 inches. And then pic out electronics you like.

Damn, i wish i saw that many skylines. I have seen 1 blue r34 in real life. It was in schaumberg. I was coming up behind him, thinken what dumbass honda is that with skyline taylights. getting closer, going dam, looks like a nissan. Its a coupe, i see driver on right hand side, and i kinda pull ahead so i could look at front of the car. And then i think he thought i was trying to race, and that was the last i ever saw of him. Car was pretty quick, and i was shocked as hell when i saw it.

As far as drag racing in skylines, well, give up your fricken bank account! The GT-R's that compete with me have two and three times as much money invested in them.

The only skylines that are worth snot are the GT-R's. They are not kids' tuner cars either... the parts are seriously twice as expensive (sometimes 3 times)

The 180sx is not the best drag chassis, this we know, but there are two 180sx's in Japan running 9's on street tires now (Nitto NT555R's)

With my 180sx, I have been laying down a lot of abuse on the Skylines, completely wasting stock ones, and beating even some with similar mods to what I have (power:weight ratio) The models other than the GT-R aren't worth my gas anymore... with the exception of a few around here that have pretty serious mods. (RB25 or RB26 and a very big turbo in a RWD)

Hey The Mad, yes I'm serious. How many GTS-T's do we have around here that can keep up with my 180?

I know of a few, but they're pretty seriously modified... the kind of stuff I can't afford to do.

I used to do pretty good! You had to go and put a turbo kit on it, that's dirty pool! I doubt I have enough under the hood to catch you now but keep the hammer down cause I'm back there! Do you know the knuclehead in Jan Super Street with the former Okinawa Hakosuka? You know the junkyard at mizugama? the one next to and behind Miyagi's. They just brought in a full tune S14 yesterday;GT turbo, stainless outlet, full exhuast, AVC-R, Greddy boost and oil temp meters, crossmission, twin plate, 2mm head gasket, Nismo fuel pressure regulator, possible 550cc injectors, possible high cams, cusco struts and strut bars. It had an aluminum three core radiator and HKS intercooler but they got smacked bad and the ARC oil pan was cracked. Might want to check that out.

Jesus, dont underestimate your 180 man.

Skylines are not fast and they are not expected to win. You are still obviously new to the island.

I'll be down there tomorrow to take a look. Thanks, Mike!

Hey Munki4ce, The Mad Scientist is the crazy mutha with the Silvia Q's (666 Plates) It's named Damien. He beat the crap out of Bryce with it. He's actually beaten a lot of people with it.

Yeah, with that automatic GTS-T you did run pretty hard, Mike. I swear you have the Midas Touch or something.

Well, its sort of illegal. By law your not allowed to have an engine that is not DOT legal i think. But who is going to go across ever 240sx in the nation and look under every hood? Yeah I know about the whole deal about failing visual inspection but you just have to find the right place to get your car inspected.

take one 80000 Kilometer CA18DE, add five speed swap with Toda flywheel and used clutch, turbo fuel injectors with SAFC to trim them, HKS 4-2-1 header , HKS exhuast, punched cat, Laurel Diff, 16x8 wheels, stripp the interior, pull the power steering and AC system, trunk mount battery,Rev to 8000rpm to stir and drop the clutch to pour, results?A small but potent shotglass of whoopazz!
