Ok from the little searching i've done (not a lot of time on my hands) i've read that the transmission is pretty weak over 450rwhp. First off, is that correct? So what options do we have after that point? I don't know much about transmissions so i don't know what could be replaced or strenthed so any insight would be helpful. I also read about a transmission that HKS makes that could be used and it's like 6 grand, is that right? kinda pricy isn't it?

That is correct, your next option would be a RB25DET transmission, its the "poor man's" alternative to a high priced "race" transmission. Enjoy your day!

I got my OS Giken Close Ratio Transmission for about $650. (used of course)

Brand new, the gear set alone is about $2000. You also need an output shaft which is about $500. Add the cost of new synchros, seals, whatever else you need.

Look at that... you're halfway to buying a full dog transmission from Quaife. (~$7000 iirc)

Actually, the HKS transmission is more like 9 or 10 grand.

How much hp can it handle? Is it a bolt on or does it require custom work? And do you sell it, if so how much? If not, where can i get one, and how much? thanks

Many of the japanese tuning companies don't make their own stuff... especially transmissions, you'd need a transmission company to make one, right? So they get it from one of the best. Quaife.

chill man.He asked about the HKS transmission in his original post, so I corrected the price that he quoted. I never said anything about HKS actually making their transmission.

I was just wondering but are you going to be building a drag car? Or are you going for the ultimate street car?

not into drag racing that much, more of a ultimate street car.....i'd love to exceed 500rwhp.....that's my long term goal, maybe once i get enough into it i'll strip it and race it.....i figure theres no need in getting something i'm gonna replace anyway, so when i upgrade my turbo i'm gonna have to replace internals and sleeve the block as well so if i take care of the transmission now thats one less expense when i get a new turbo....probally a T66, and N20 to reduce lag....it's all on paper now, may not happen for a few years, but i'd rather prepare it for the big numbers now.....and yeah i know it's gonna cost a fortune.....

Yeah if you could make a deal to get a Skyline transmission instead of a SR20det then you would be set without having to buy another transmission. Good luck with your car.;)

I doubt I'll offer it as a package unless I'm building the motor to 400hp+ as well. : ) As much as I'd love to have a bunch of manual transmissions without bellhousings sitting around, thats not really my thing. : )
