sr20det transmission???? PLEASE HELP

Ok guys installed my new transmission by myself yesterday. and the new transmission i guess has a dust cover on the ouput shaft that sits up against the driveshaft.... my old transmission didnt have that cover. i test drove it last night and sparks came up...

question. if the dust cover is meant to be there how do i get it not to spark?

i have been told i can remove that little dust cover ring its not needed and that will fix my problem but just wanted to get another opinion on it.
