sr20det topic: s13 block s14 block same thing?

is the s13 sr20det and the s14 block the same thing? i know the heads are different. can u put a s13 head on a s14 block and vice versa. thanks

The blocks are different. You may be able to swap heads, but some of the other stuff is different like the oil and water pumps. S14 and S15 blocks are the same however.

s14 has an extra coolant passage in the head and will leak when attached to the s13 block may be possible to plug this but not sure yet. i would imagine the problem would be the same putting a s13 head on an s14 block. also the hard line for the factory catch can is different but easily modified and the coolant lines and thermostat housing under the intake manifold are different. we just changed them out for the s14 ones other than that it works fine. just have to find out if i can tap and pug that coolant passage.
