SR20DET Timing Cover Question.

I have a S13 Sr20 Blacktop. Can you pull off the timing cover with out pulling the head and dropping the upper oil pan?? I need to check my mechanical timing and I dont want to have to pull the motor to do so. thanks for any help.

You need to remove 2 bolts from the top of the cover through the cylender head and on the bottom you need to pull the bottom oil pan and you can access the 2 bolts i believe without removing the upper pan. I could be wrong because i haven't had one apart for a couple months and really never pay that close attention. Hope this helps. I believe I am steering you in the right direction.Peter
