So I have been having problems diagnosing my non-starting SR20. I have checked everything but when it fires it seems to be firing too early and then rotating backwards, e.g the timing must be off. I have pulled the rocker cover and my chain is a factory one and only has one silver coloured link so it's impossible to see if the cam timing has jumped, the chain seems to have a large amount of lateral play in it though.

Has anyone done a timing chain replacement on an SR20 and what does it involve? Do I need to pull the head? Could anyone run me through all the steps, would be massively appreciated.

A quick google search yielded your wildest dreams.
