Get the swap. Provided the chasis of the car is in good condition and you want to keep it. Don't think you'll profit from selling the car with the swap in it.

I would say just do homework and figure out what you like more. Even though I'm SR powered I wish I would've gone KA-T. So it really just depends on what kind of person you are. Each motor has their pro's and con's, so I would say that it would depend on what you can afford in the long run. The SR is a very good motor.....but the KA's are more readily avaible in the even that something terrible happens.

no i found all the parts for the swap for $2500. Me and a friend just started a custom car shop and this is going to be our project car and we are going to do all of the install and work ourselves. i want this to be a good daily driver also, but i want to be able to dominate anything on the road around here (oklahoma). i'm not sure what i want to do yet i mean alot of what i have read says so the sr swap but then i have read some that say the ka is better. all in all i want to get about 300-400hp out of the engine but on a decent budget does anyone have a link that compares all of the motors specs side by side sorry if this seems a little jumpy but i have been runnin on about 3-4hrs sleep, a night, for 6 days in a row (finals suck, and top that off with a 30 page single spaced research paper well u get the idea

lol wtf si that?!

also, I think you might want to stretch your budget a bit....2500 for 400hp is pushing it, IMO

What kind of "custom car shop" is this? No offense but it seems that if your asking this type of question you should be a little more experienced if you plan to run a business catering to this type of work.

looking at your avatar, i see by your opinion that you're not mechanically inclined?

I rebuilt the Lotus twincam in my dad's elan and I went with SR. KAT could be neat but I wanted a 'tried and true' drop in wire up and go kind of thing instead of having to tear apart my KA, buy more than I spent on my swap in parts and tuning and build it back up to have it run just as well for my goals (200-250whp).

i am new, so many people wont want my opinion, but i have been straight researching for 6 monthes, over lots of websites, and from my personal research and talking to drifters and drag racers with 240's, they all agree that the SR20 was the best decisiont hey made, i had the chance to talk to a guy with a KA24 in his car, it had the turbo, intercooled set up, he said he loved it but was going to sell the turbo kit and engine and swap in a SR for the reason of. the motors have so much more potential, relativetly cheap to do, they can push well into 400's with the right set up, and they arent as internally stubborn as the KA's, the ka's have the potential to turn out FAT numbers, but the problem is the pistons and rods cant handle more then 12 pounds without having a ticking time bomb... SR all the way... my SX will soon have one... and the whole swap is only costing me about 2000 bucks... its all going in stock as can be except for the few benifical things, like a air intake, cheap intercooler, and stage 2 clutch... iam gonna then save up again and try to hit the fuel management system... then top her off with a turbo....

I have had a KA-T and I recently picked up a S14 with a failed SR swap. I have to say the KA-T was cheaper all the way around and its more custom. I have to say there is more SR knowledge around and a bigger aftermarket for the SR. I think what it comes down to if you get a killer deal on a known good SR don't pass it up.

Do the Swap -- Just make sure that you dont just get anybody to do it -- XAT Racing in Tampa is where you want to get it done-- they do the best work and arent the most expensive --
