Hello, I just had an s13 SR20DET installed in my 90' 240sx. My problem is that the shifter sits more towards the front of the car than it should, so much so that shifting into 1st, 3rd, and 5th gears results in slamming your fist into the dash. Could the engine/transmission be mounted wrong? is there a shifter I could buy to correct the problem?

that doesnt sound right, its should be pretty much where it was with a ka. There is some minor adjustment you can get out of the mounts but its not much. I have a b&m s/s and its cuts down the throw alot, but you shouldn't specifically need a short shifter.

Sounds like the engine transmission is too far forward. Maybe look at the mounts, are they sacked out and sitting funny or leaning? are they aftermarket mounts?
