I just bought a 95 240sx with a redtop sr20det installed, BUT not wired. So i decide to download a couple manuals offline and i figure i can do it, what the hell right? I getto looking at the harness', and they look a little scarey. So i call unstable hybrids to pick their Brain a little. And they say i will be lucky to figure out how to wire it in 2-3 months if i do it myself. They werent bieng rude or trying to sell their services to me, he was dead serious. He even recomended sending the harness' to california cus they arent even confident with wiring the S13 to an S14 aparently. So now i go to pull the harness off the SR20det, and i cant even get my hand between the motor and firewall!

So now ive decided to pull the whole swap back out, send the harness' out to Cali. And get familiar with the whole nissan thing.

In the mean time this sucks !

yeah that sounds about right. From what I'd reckon about the prices that many places put on it over the s13 to s13 (which I've just finished the wiring for) it'd probably be pretty daunting for the first timer. might want to fork over the 350 and have it sent to some of the shops that are familiar with that job like HT, Phase2, Enjuku, or even motorex.

i do recommend HT as they have done 2 of mine with no problems at all. They are very helpful and are one of the reasons I got my swap, done by myself in my driveway, up and running.

No reason to not have it wired. Its not particularly expensive, its quicker than figureing it out yourself AND you know its done right.

did it myself. was pretty easy if you follow the instructions on HT. just make sure that all the wires are connected to the ecu. some of mine was sticking out but i found out that i didn't need them. only part i hate is soldering. sooo damn gay. anyways, goodluck with your swap! if you do plan on taking the motor out, might as well check the seals and make sure they don't need to be changed. slapped my motor on a stand and it was really simple.

edit: oh forgot your doing it on a s14. just send it off ;)

I talked to the guys at Mkinney motorsports, they seem to know a good bit about the Wiring and SR motors. Im sure one place is just as good as the next. They said $300 to wire it.

And im pretty sure im gonna go ahead and run through the motor while i have it out and "refresh it".

Thanks for all the heads up.

So is pretty much impossible to remove the whole harness with the engine still ni the car? cus i cant figure out how to get it off the back of the motor.

Well my whole hand wont even squeeze between the firewall and the motor, i cant see behind there, feel behind there or nothing. So i find this to be my only option.

which side is your harness at? on s13's it's on the pass side. the only wire that went behind the firewall is the o2 sensor wire.

The majority of the harness is on the pass side, But it comes down directly behind the motor, same goes for the coil pack wires, they just go straight down behind the motor

Well i had some extra time today...and i finally got the KA and SR harness' removed from the engine/car. And after i figured all that out, i took of the valve cover just to check things out, and one of the ricker arms is just lying in the head, so thats no damn good. I dont know what would cause that, but nothing can be good from all that. So im deffinatly ripping apart the motor and checking things out now.

May have to sell my turbo GSR to fund this project :'(

damn, sorry about your find. are you going to take the head off and everything? Sounds pretty scary. Taking everything apart sounds like a good idea. Keep us posted!

Yea im gonna wait till i get all my manuals on the motor before i go tearing it apart. I may just take it to a shop that really familiar with the motor first. i dunno yet, its lookin chitty right now.

you can get s14 sr20det fsm off of zilvia.net. I haven't heard of anyone having the copy of the s13 one. People say that they are almost exactly the same so it should work.
