SR20DET swap into my 240sx...???

Well my problem go as my KA24DE runs fine but is missing oil everytime i do an oil change, and it won't go through deq in my state. So i'm assuming i have bad rings because it's not leaking out, and rings get expensive to replace. So as an alternative I'm thinking of swapping in an sr20det, but i have heard that they don't have an egr and they have different emission standards in japan. Now my question is do sr20det's go through deq and pass, or do i have to do more modifications to the sr20 to make it pass?
