i have a 1989 nissan 240 sx and i just recently swaped 1992-93 sr20det into it. I finally got all of my hoses hooked up. i cranked it over and got it timed to where it is sapose to be. but its currently blowing out alot of smoke and isnt running perfectly smooth and when i rev it i do hear the turbo spoiling but the BOV never blows at all. there is some kind of leak on down by my turbo and exhaust manifold. i took of the piping thats right after the turbo and its dark and has an oily substance on the inside of the piping. i blieve its comming out from the manifold some where. i was wondering if anyone has any clue of what i should do to get it running better... get the leak sealed... and for the BOV to blow??. i think something might be messed up with the waste gate but im not sure on any of that.

Your questions are very vague. First, if your just revving the engine at idle you won't build very much boost, and the bov won't open so I wouldn't worry about that one until the car is on the road.

"Some kind of leak on down by my turbo... and has some an oily substance."

This is obviously some kind of oil leak, but you are not specific as to which pipe you removed. If it was the hotpipe, I'd say your turbo's seals are leaking and your turbo is bad. If its the intake pipe, maybe you sucked some oil out of the head. For better answers be very specific in your description, and include pictures if at all possible. Hope this helps.

well i think that the tubro wont leak much oil or anything if i replace the gaskets.i found (hopefully) the main problem for my leak in the exhause.. there was an hole for emmissions.. but im just going to plug that up. thanks alot for the help. just a quick question, since the turbo just berily fits under the exhaust manifold... what would you do if your looking to get a bigger turbo?

or what would you do just for more power? i dont want to spend alot. i was wondering about the different turbo because i have a friend that gets turbo's for cost so im jw what would be the best thing to do?

well..you can fit some pretty decently sized turbos down there..i have a gt2871 down there and it fits fine. if your looking for something cheap..get an s13 t28r upgrade to z32 maf and a safc or get it rom tuned.

Who did the wiring? If it's not revving over 2000 rpms it could be a MAF or MAF wiring problem.
