sr20det swap...can't rev past 2500rpm.?????

my swap is finally done....my sr20det starts right up and idles fine......but it won't rev past 2500rpm.....

im using my ka dohc maf sensor could this be the problem.....

is any one else using a dohc maf sensor ....would using a sohc maf sensor solve this problem....

or im also thinking maybe it could be my stock fuel pump ....would i need to get a high performance pump???/

any suggestion would be great thanks

Since you're from Vancouver I won't flame you, but most people will just tell you to search for a very commom problem like this.

Yes your maf is the problem but double check the wiring too so when you put the right one on, you won't have the same issue. I've heard that you can use the sohc maf, but not positive.

ya I kept my SOHC MAF and it works. 300ZX(Z32) MAF works also.

Don't you need to re-chip you computer for the z32 maf? Do you for the sohc ka?

All BC ball keeps rollin...

You cannot use the KA DOHC MAF for the SR swap. Lemme know if you cant find one, cause I think I have my stock one somewhere.Chris

thanks anyway....but I already got my hands on a sohc maf.....

so i put it in....double checked the wiring....and it still won't rev past 2500rpm.....

i got my buddy to spray some gasoline directly into the throttlebody while i was reving it....and bam......it reved uped all the way

so what in the hell could it be ....my only guess is theres something wrong with the fuel.....i check the pump pressure and thats fine.....so i took the injectors out and they looked clean .....but just in case im soaking them in some throttle body cleaner.....

what do you guys think the problem could be im all out of ideas???????????????

probably still the maf. even though you sprayed some fuel in there, it doesnt mean you arent getting enough fuel. if the maf isnt right, then it wont spray enough fuel on its own to get it past 2.5K rpms.

check your wiring, after i did mine, just a tiny little fiber was poking through my heath shrink tubing i used and was causing it to ground out. really tiocked me off cause i couldnt figure out why it was doing that for the longest time. so i suggest going back and triple checking your maf wiring.

not reving past 2500 is a common problem and it is something to do with the mafs my friend took mine when his went out fixed the problem

OMG.... I finally got my car running properly.......so it turns out that it was a maf problem....

im such a dumb ***....my sr20det wiring harness at the ecu side....had some wires T'd off.....i guess the last owner had an AFC or somethin hooked up to it b4....

so i just hooked the maf wires back up and....dam....it revved up all the way

Thanx for all the help guys....now i can finally get some sleep

oh ya....for anyone newbies out there....i threw back on my ka dohc maf sensor to verify that it doesnt work with the sr20det.....ONLY the sohc maf sensor will work.....i know that this is a common question.....so i hope this thread can help anyone doin there first swap.....

now all thats left to do is hook up my electric fan and do some tuning....and im all good to go

hey ca guy here the same is the same for the sr check ur wiring over all the way from when u joined them and check ur mafs, also if u wired it up wrong u will be looking for a new ecu they are very fragile components extra care should be taken . if u dont know what ur doing ask someone that did before u go trying , just my 2 cents
