the motor comes turbocharged (hence DET).. why bother supercharging it? More money and in general less efficent.

I always thought twin-charging would be pretty sweet.

its possible to twin charge not it doesnt make sense on such a small engine. my friends dad has a drag car with a big block chevy that has s/c turbo and nitrous, thats more the size of engine u need for it to make sense

I dont understand that logic. Not to start an e-fight, but that just doesnt make any sense to me.

a 2.0l will have major difficulty in spooling up a large turbo, say t66. SO we twin charge run even a small pully, say 3.5-7.0psi (depending on application and a million other tuning factors, I dont know enought to make that decision even in theory)

The S/C begins building boost from say 1500 rpm. The added exhaust volume helps to spool the t66 more gently (say 30psi?) and at a useable RPM say 3-4k instead of 5-6k.

Super complicated, lots of weight, but a useable powerband. Same concept as spoolup with Nitrous. Only this setup never 'runs out'

I wasn't talking about twin-charging, just supercharging. I know everybody says you'd waste all kinds of money, but a lot of people end up replacing nearly every stock "turbo system" component anyway, so why not try and s/c it? The only reason I was thinking is because they usually have more responsive boost - especially in the lower rpms (from what I've read anyway). I understand that when you start getting the bigger turbos on these engines it can take up to 4krpms just to get the thing spooled...

It was just an idea... Just wanted to clarify that I wasn't talking about twin-charging...

Oh, well that sucks. err.. blows.

The only S/C that woudl really be aplicable to this motor would be the Vortec style. I say this because this is the only S/C capeable of creating higher (above 7) boost levels. Max for even the vortec is in the teens. AND it doesnt make full boost till around 3000rpm.

S/C would make sense however you would have to get a unit say paxton or vortech where you can adjust the PSI its running to something higher than their stock ratings (mostly around 7 psi). The reason for this is if you look at the applications they make their kits for all the cars (i believe ill double check after this) they do have them have engines running higher compression (i.e. honda civic si, 350z, ford SVT focus, etc.) so to negate this you either would have to up the compression of the SR (which is easy its been done before) or up the PSI the unit runs to get results. S/C a motor that was once turbo has been done with excellent results. I dont feel like going into detail, but searching the web youll find what i have read.
