Hi, my name is Jason and i been saving up money for my 240sx for while now. I was going to get the swap and new suspension all that stuff last summer but had a pretty bad finicial situation. Now again I have saved up 6500 dollars ^^ finally. Im planning to get my swap done in a shop. G-demnsion or sr20store. Since the swap only includes a functional 15 year old sr20det(hopefully low mileage from japan). What are some things I should really do to improve the reliablity of the engine? Like wut parts to replace? Please post a easy understanding list so even i could understand. Thank you.

One more thing, I also going to replace the suspension of the car. Well, i dont know much, so all i know is to get new colivers, and Rear control arms? wut are some other parts i should get also? lolz please type out full name of the part and any other advice will be greatly appericated, thank you.

just finished doing a sr20det in to a 1990 240sx on my own about a month ago. if your getting a front clip your pretty much set as long as every thing come with this. it all depends on what you plan on doing to the car but if you did what i did and just bought the motor and transmission and keeping it stock for now your going o need a few things.a radiator from the s13 witth the sr20det if you plan on using side mount inter cooler cuz the hot pipe gets in the way i just upgrade to the koyo radhot pipe cold pipe side mount intercooler if your not using a front mount intercoolerdown pipe with 3ich exhause recomendedre route your heater core linesre wire cut and extend you wiring harnesshttp://www.frsport.com/SR20DET....htmlthats the site i used and it worked for merad hoses for new radmay need a walbro 255lph fuel pump depending on the life of your exsisting one i havnt need a new one yet for my carif its 89 or 90 240 and you want power steering youl need a non hicas power stering pump from the dohc ka24 and lines as you go along doing this swap you may run into different things depending on what come with the motor and what upgrades you deside to do

if your doing suspension stuff you need t know what kind drivin your gonna do weather is drift track drag or what ever you plan on doing one thing that makes a big diffrence that no one really thinks of is polyurithane bushing for all around your car thaey say to replace them after 10 years and even if its not there better then stock any ways. also id get strut bars and sway bars. id also recomend changin the diff to some thing better then whats in the 89-90 240sx because the one tire fire suckhope that helped you out a bit thats all i coule thin of off the top of my head and good luck

water pump is a must

radiator is a must (koyo?...) if you are tracking it or beating on it at all

oil filter relocation (stock is a *****)

tension rods are nice for drifting - the wheel flicks away much easier.

obviously new spark plugs (7 heat range)new beltsand all new fluids are a must

rocker arm stoppers can save your motor while high reving too.

If you plan on running more boost etc grab a walbro 255lph fuel pump too. ($100)

too much to list but there are some basics

If you decide to have a shop do the swap, I would go with SR20store. Marco Vargas is a Nissan wizard. Many SR swaps have problems at first, small or big. If there are any problems, Marco can diognose and fix it on the spot because he just has the time and experience with these cars. As far as suspension goes, do you want to road race, autocross, or drift?

if you have that much money, but an 2jz or an RB26/rb25 !?put the motor set aside and do the work yourself!

otherwise, get an s14 or 15 sr20det. they aren't too expensive and they have less mileage.

good luck, and cherish that money, I did a swap with a lot less and pulled it off but sr is the budget motor if you have 3k or more, get something more exciting and do it yourself!

+1

save up about 1500-2k more and drop an RB26 or a 2jz. you will thank yourself for it later when your car triples in value and runs 12's by just turning up the wick.

I would start with polyurathane bushings from RSR. Then I would bolt on a set of Tein type flex coilovers and add more upgrades as your speed and skill increases.

rear sub frame bushings, maybe an aluminum driveshaft, lightweight flywheel, beefy clutch, adjustable tension rods, tie rods and ends. Solid or polyurethane transmission mounts. stiffer motor mounts (not solid if you are DD'ing). roll bars, strut braces, etc etc.

These parts are not mandatory, but they will all help in giving you some flexibility in your suspension setup and some of the parts will aid in your traction control when you start getting some power to the ground. All of the parts listed will help your car even if you are running a stock KA motor. some of them are typically worn already on s13's as they are getting up there in age.
