Well I'm new so hi . I am intrested in 240s as all you are because of their potential at an affordable price. I research alot and know what I am going to do to her: sr20det swap, http://www.enjukuracing.com turbo (great site), cams, header, fuel, ems, ect (fully built eventully). Now I have this place warehousemotors.com that sells clean cars geared toward speed, they built a TT supra, silvia replica, and have done about 18 sr20det swaps. I went to them today to get an estimate. There saying 7000 for the car, the sr20det engine (stock but I want the disco potato for about 1200), fuel, lsd, and ams, and also exaust which they probably addes 500 which I could do for 200. What does anyone think about this estimate I know it's pretty close to being right but I'm wondering your thoughts. I figure car (pre 95) for 1800-2000 (that would be one in good shape I could find one cheaper I know) 1500-2200 for the sr20det, Im not sure about the lsd (500?), the aem ems (300-500?), or the fuel components (300-500?). I did search by the way I just searched sr20det cost but atleast I searched. So thats about it for the first post also gotta say this car is gonna be fully built and when thats done theres also great body conversions (silvia, or s-16 ). OK now that about sums up the first post thanks for reading this far.

Welcome also you may want to research your prices a little better. Also shops don't work for free. If that price is tuned that isn't bad.

you do save alot of money by getting upgrades with a swap, but unless you have driven a high horse power car before you need to make sure you have been on a ride in a 350 + horsepower car. Take your time because projects that start of really quick usually end quick because you will find that the cost starts to add up fast. You are already talking about 12+ because you want a 7grand swap, you need a car, and you need the body kit paint and body work.

I think if you want to be garaunteed a good motor you may spend a bit more depending on the year sr20 you want to build, beware ebay and cheap motors because they often times turn out to be just that, cheap motors!

Btw...you do have great shops in Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa and Miami. Talking to anyone who has something similar to what you want will get you the scoop on whos good and whos not. I drove from atlanta to tampa to visit XAT racing, they were more expensive but they do there work great, but I didnt go with them because I found a shop in Atlanta that I trusted to do the work I needed after a ton of searching

Well some of that good ol' research got me 1392 just for fuel delivery. Im probably going to just get a 240 add rims, paint, system, intake and exaust maybe msd and save up for the engine I can't stand driving a wrecked stratus 2.5, it's too dodge. Stock 240s rev nice anyway.

stick around a while and read before you make an choices and start buying parts. Stick with the 240 general, 240 Technical, SR section, etc. I think after I bought my car it stayed bone stock for 3 months and first thing I did was a manual swap. Stayed bone stock for a few more months then I put on an exhaust. Stayed that way for another few months added suspension/VLSD. While I wasn't modding my car I was researching upgrades and pricing stuff out finding the best prices.

haha i love how this thread quickly went from...

MAD MAD MAD HORSEPOWER BABYYYY

to...

Sh#t.... I need moh moneyyyy

No stock KAs rev like sh#t.

Just take it slow... take your time... start with a nice SR with all the maintenance stuff like HG, ARP, oil pump, water pump, etc etc then when your SR runs right you can start bolting stuff on like bigger turbos, injectors etc etc.

ahahaha I hear ya. The thing is I just got a job and am tired of the dented mess of a stratus I have. It really sucks to not be able to have a car you can keep washed and waxed and have that gleam of elbow grease. Going all engine would be fun but rims, tint, paint, system would look clean. PLus I only live a mile away from work and have no life what so ever so it's not like I can have fun on the way to work. I could just drive around and do but that gets old. SO Im going to look clean and boom with no zoom. With zoom in mind however all in good time. As far as how they accelerate, it may be because I tested a 92 infinity g20 (now thats slow) right before I drove it. It seemed to climb through the rpms decently to me didn't realize what I had though didn't know they were rwd back then didn't like the ugly *** interior.

I never heard of a rwd G20?

but man I think you will find that most 240sx are banged up sheet metal much like your Dodge. Now you get the option (as 547 said) to take a look around and just see what you really like. You will have made when you are ready, learn as much as possible and be patient. I also suggest keeping that crusty dodge cause when you start building you may wish you had it to drive that few miles everyday when your car is down

No I know the g20 s aren't rwd, I was saying how the 93 240 I drove seemed to get much more acceleration than the fwd 92 g20(yea I know power to weight). The g20 was like waiting for the world to end to get to 40. While the 240 just shot threw em realitivly nicely, they must be beasts turboed. I know I kept rambling on in the posts for some reason, I hadn't had but 1 hour of sleep in the last 48 with 16 hours of work not incredible or anything just a bit tired.

My cousin got his SR swap at Warehousemotors.. the swap seems nice and clean. the only thing was that it took over a month! he was without a car the whole time. but the price was decent. right around $3800 for the complete swap with VLSD. no a/C though. im currently shopping around for a decent SR front clip to do the swap myself, but im not sure who to trust as far as buying a clip. i've narroed it down to 3 places and warehousemotors being one of them.

When it comes to SR swaps... I only trust me, my self, and...... my self...

Seriously, you should try it out for your self. It really isnt difficult and can be a very educating experience for you.

yo, just buy mine and go from there... well either way i think you would save money from buying soemones already done, wether it be mine or not. bc i have about 17 grand into mine and i am selling it for 7500... and that is the case for a lot of ppl... i wish i would have done that. bc if you buy one that is already done you wont have to pay for labor (no one ever makes that money back) and you are basically getting a lot of parts for hella cheap. then you still have money left over for more upgrades that arent already on the car...

take a look... zerothread?id=181595

good luck

i think doing your own is another good option. But you have to make sure to let someone else do the harness. You dont want to screw up on the expensive things. Also, make sure you replace your seals. It really isn't hard at all its just time consuming if you are doing it alone.

If I had the money now I would definitly buy that 240. Looks like you took your time did things right. The only thing I would be worried about when buying from someone who already upgraded would be wear on the engine especially if they knew they were selling it. I still do it though to save alot of time I really would have no way to get to work during the time it would take to do the sr swap maybe take a weeks vacation and hope they can do it in that time.

Oh damn didn't see those other posts.

Yea Warehouse motors does seem to have a clean shop going. Did your friend have an s13 or s14 cause i'm thinking of going s14 now. 3800 for the swap? Damn they were trying to overcharge the hell out of me. I can get a clean bodied 240 s13 for like 2300 or less. Im gonna tell em all I can spend is 3700! Thats 6100 total, 900 less.

yo ill sell mine for 7000... and you are wrong in saying that ppl beat on their cars more bc they are selling it. i drive mine a lot better now that i am selling it bc dont want it to blow up or wreck it bc then it is not worth as much... and you will save a lot more money by buying one already done...

Could you tell me the name of the shop in Atlanta? I'd much rather drive there than to Tampa from Jackson for a swap. Especially I have family I could stay with while the swap takes place, that is if the shop there does swaps. I'd like to have the swap done in a shop but I'm pretty good with cars and I have access to all the equipment so I'll do it myself if I have to.
