Yea that does kill the "Ive done research" remark. I just found this site and wanted to post. Lets see what I can find.574-240sx wrote:Welcome also you may want to research your prices a little better. Also shops don't work for free. If that price is tuned that isn't bad.
If I had the money now I would definitly buy that 240. Looks like you took your time did things right. The only thing I would be worried about when buying from someone who already upgraded would be wear on the engine especially if they knew they were selling it. I still do it though to save alot of time I really would have no way to get to work during the time it would take to do the sr swap maybe take a weeks vacation and hope they can do it in that time.travis newberry wrote:yo, just buy mine and go from there... well either way i think you would save money from buying soemones already done, wether it be mine or not. bc i have about 17 grand into mine and i am selling it for 7500... and that is the case for a lot of ppl... i wish i would have done that. bc if you buy one that is already done you wont have to pay for labor (no one ever makes that money back) and you are basically getting a lot of parts for hella cheap. then you still have money left over for more upgrades that arent already on the car...
take a look... zerothread?id=181595
good luck
Could you tell me the name of the shop in Atlanta? I'd much rather drive there than to Tampa from Jackson for a swap. Especially I have family I could stay with while the swap takes place, that is if the shop there does swaps. I'd like to have the swap done in a shop but I'm pretty good with cars and I have access to all the equipment so I'll do it myself if I have to.nzmoman wrote:you do save alot of money by getting upgrades with a swap, but unless you have driven a high horse power car before you need to make sure you have been on a ride in a 350 + horsepower car. Take your time because projects that start of really quick usually end quick because you will find that the cost starts to add up fast. You are already talking about 12+ because you want a 7grand swap, you need a car, and you need the body kit paint and body work.
I think if you want to be garaunteed a good motor you may spend a bit more depending on the year sr20 you want to build, beware ebay and cheap motors because they often times turn out to be just that, cheap motors!
Btw...you do have great shops in Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa and Miami. Talking to anyone who has something similar to what you want will get you the scoop on whos good and whos not. I drove from atlanta to tampa to visit XAT racing, they were more expensive but they do there work great, but I didnt go with them because I found a shop in Atlanta that I trusted to do the work I needed after a ton of searching
