blacktop s13 sr20det. I have the timing set to 15 BTDC using a timing light and the wire on the first cylinder.

The engine starts (I usually need to give it gas when I start it and it only keeps going on the 5th crank) and then idles.

It idles fine for a while, and then starts to act kind of funny. The idle will kind of slow, almost as if the timing was being changed, and then goes back to normal. it fluctuates like this continously once the engine has been idling for a while. sometimes it gets pretty close to dieing.

I checked the timing, and it looks like the timing goes from 15 BTDC to about 5 BTDC then back up to 15 BTDC when it fluctuates

here are a list of things that have not yet been dealt with:

BOV is not recirculated as of right nowStock 240sx s13 chassis fuel pumpstock sr20det FPRFor some reason the gauge temperature sensor does not seem to work.I am not sure about the ECU temperature sensor, although there is a marked difference in idle when I disconnect it. it may just be malfunctioning instead of just being dead.

keep in mind, the car has a brand new thermostat and water pump.

What kind of BOV is it? Might need to adjust the spring if its a spring type if its the SSQV than I'm lost lol.

would the BOV even effect the idle characteristics?

Also, the vacuum lines for BOV, wastegate, and boost pressure solenoid come from the throttle body, not from the nipple on the intake piping (I am using an aftermarket system that doesnt have a nipple on the hot or cold pipe for such lines)

I know that is not the right way to do it, but once again, I am talking about pure idle characteristics.

Yes, some types (as mentioned before) have to be adjusted, if out of ajustment they will cause a vacuum leak effecting the idle
