ok.. has any1 with a stock sr20det dynoed their car??? i was just surfing around cause im ready to start swapping my sr, and i came across this site. http://www.importtuner.com/pow....html

according to this, this guy was making 166hp/167tq. with stock ka exhaust. thats real low in my opinion. now after they swapped on the exhaust, intake, and downpipe, it only made 189.5hp and 185tq. WTF!! isn't the SR supposed to have like 205hp stock?? some1??!!!

I quess it all depends on how the motor was treated before. Motors that were treated like crap are just that. Crap.

The 205hp rating is crank horsepower. You lose between 15% and 20% in the stock drivetrain.

20% of 205 is about 40, so 205 - 40 = 165. The dyno is about right.

Of course you'll make more power. Do some searching. The SR formula is well-established.

^ I think the dyno was being generous that day. Honestly, do you think that dynos can't be manipulated?

A high stock number on a Redtop SR is probably 175whp. Don't be hurt about it, though. The stock KA, on a GREAT day, will only make about 130whp. Drivetrain loss is part of the game. Don't sweat it.

Formula is this:

S+f(u)

S = Stock SR powerf = Fuel Delivery Rateu = a freaking idiot if you thought there was an actual formula

Everything is dependent on tuning. Search the SR forum and you'll see what people are doing. At this point, there's not a lot of groundbreaking work being done on that motor...

tuning is the single most important thing to it all!

example: took my stock sr with no tuning to the track.... ran a 15.9 at 85mph. also had a regulator issue and had to shift at 5krpm. also keep in mind i was at 5000 ft above sea level.

had a tune done and the next weekend ran a 14.2

Dyno's don't mean ****. They are not consistant or repeatable because they are dependant on many factors. They are to be used for tuning, or to give an approx power output, but it is nothing to dyno your car, do nothing, come back the next day and have it change 15 hp.

PS drivtrain loss accounts for about 12% hp loss.

It's accepted that there's between 15-20% for RWD drivetrainloss. 12-15% for FWD applications.

And since this thread started nowhere and is going nowhere...
